So, I was looking for another guitar. Needed to have a HH config, maple fretboard and floyd. After looking around for a while I tried one of these bad boys at a store. Sweet mother what a sweet guitar. I liked it so much I sought one out, for a better price.

The pickups are not just hype, they roar, and are super articulate and clear, turn the volume back a bit and they clean up wonderfully. The bridge and neck pickups are eq'd very well and work great in combination or individually without eq tweaking for one or the other.

The neck and frets are to die for. I have always like the EVH flavored guitars, the EBMM/Axis and the Peavey but have never been super thrilled with them. The Peavey neck was too chunky, yet I liked the radius. The MM guitars neck was very nice, but hated the radius. They totally nailed it for me on this one, perfect width, thickness and the radius is perfect through the whole range. I love the SS vintage frets too, though they take a bit to get used to. Dead on fretwork too.

It's a hefty chunk of wood too, pretty thick and heavy for a basswood/maple guitar.

Overall this is an amazingly well thought out guitar with incredible tone, playability and durability.

If I have any criticism, it'd be the branding. I know it's an EVH guitar, does it need to be on the bridge, tuners, and headstock, as well as the inside and outside of the case? I bought mine, "slightly used" and didn't pay full retail, but I don't really think the price is too outrageous for what it is if the guitar works for you.

I know, I know... pics or it doesn't exist. I'll post some when I take some.

Now to score a slime green Charvel.

** Edited for added pics.

:) Enjoy your new guitar.

The necks on the new wolfgangs are very much like the necks on the older Peavey Wolfgang Specials with the transparent flame tops IMHO. The were the smallest of all the Wolfgangs I have played/owned. Close to the EBMM Axis with just a flatter radius. Great guitars; the only Wolfgang I have left.

Cheers

sold my wolfgang for an M-II being made.

i regret doing it tone wise, but playing wise the M-II that i demoed shat all over it. ive never gotten the chance to play one of the new wolfgangs, but i keep hearing they fixed the chunky feeling type of design which can make fast runs somewhat difficult.

i have always loved wolfgang pickups.

ill own another one some day. its the only guitar that kept its value from the time i bought it to the time i sold it over 4 years in difference.

congrats on the guitar, cant wait for pics.

Man! That is one sweet looking Wolfie... Is the fretboard as flat as they were on the Peaveys?

i never thought strats looked good in that burst colour, but wolfgangs have always looked fucking amazing in that color scheme.

great guitar man, would love to hear your opinion on the pickups - great snag

Yeah, I always think of bursts as Les Paul's, or country player's strats... I was looking for a black one when I came across this one. I couldn't pass it up. It's growing on me.

The pickups are my one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. They're lower output than most guitars nowadays. They positively roar, yet are very clear and articulate. They seem really clean while playing leads, all the sustain and cut is still there...it's hard to describe. Dial the volume down a little and it's a nice classic rock tone, a little more and it's gritty clean. It works really well dialing them down a little, more so than other pickups I've owned. That just could be because they're low output, not sure.

I'd probably buy them for another guitar to check out, if and when, they start selling them commercially.
