Hey guys -

Been gigging alot with my EVH50W and I was wondering what the process is to mod the EVH50W head to have a better matched green vs blue channel volume? Really is frustrating having such a large volume difference between the 2 channels.

if you wanna see my rig from my gig last night check out my band's new site (see the photo album slider ontop, I think it's the second photo) http://www.agent-oxygen.com

Is this the resistor to change to 42k?? I'm confused why the engineer from EVH commented that they had to raise CH1 and lower CH2 to meet in the middle..? Am I missing something? Seems like I can just change this value to a higher resistance to increase CH1 volume but it would leave CH2's circuit 100% alone.. My only side effect may be less CH1 headroom?

(I'm an EE, took a lot of circuit classes in college but my actual career has been systems engineering.. looking for some amp guru's to comment on this)

Another problem is that the volume difference between the channels is largely dependent on your stage volume. The higher the volume the less your notice it.

That said, here are two thread posts I bookmarked. You may have already seen these:

Thanks for the links.. I saw the one but the other was new to me..

I made the mod as well as cutting out the ch3 c16 and c30 caps (off the top my head i think those were the compnent numbers.. Im on my phone posting this right now) and the amp is perfect now... R79 seemed to want to be 33k to my ears and my setup atleast. I found a lot of guys online speccing 42k R79 but radioshack only had 33k or 47k near that value. Tried 47k and was too loud vs ch2. 33k seemed to be perfect. All 3 channels actually giggable now. I was going to post a youtube video later this week about it if there's interest

A video would be cool!

I always thought the best solution is to do the mod like you did, but implement it as a mini pot somewhere on the front.
