I believe i will be seeing that exhibit next month. I'll be in NYC May 1-5 for my Wedding Anniversary.

Only the rig nerds would notice the missing pieces! And that would be us.

99% of people looking at that are saying "Wow! That is a lot of speakers!" Or "What are those things in the bomb shell?" Still pretty cool though.

What speakers are in the middle bottom cab with the large dust caps?

I`m thinking that whole rig is a replica , we know the B/W Frankie is

Exactly.

If I was in that area I'd go see it. Like it or not VH had a very aggressive tone for the time and people were like 'how'd he do that?'

I'm going end of May to NY to visit family. That is numero uno on my list.

I know there OCD-type EVH forums and threads but I thinnnnk Greenbacks and JBL D120s or 130s?

JBL have metal dust caps?

I don't understand what is the black metal boiler on the right... i seen it in others pics, but was thinking it was part of the studio.

I think he also used Altecs at one time? The "boiler" is a WWII bomb shell, gutted and used as a rack.....in the link you can see the wings on the bottom.

MXR 6 band is missing as well.

I always thought the GE-10 was mainly used with open arenas?

The MXR 6 band is there, it is visible in the second picture down in the foreground and at the edge of the board. The information board must be obscuring it in the first picture. The metal enclosure in the shape of a colorsound overdriver pedal was a looper pedal that turned the MXR EQ on and off since it doesn't have a switch.

Ed stated that he used the GE-10 to drive long cable lengths at certain shows due to signal strength loss supposedly. The bottom no tolex amp is a Super Bass according to Dave Friedman and unless he foxed the tolex tear in the upper amp that amp may not be 12301, but it might be.

The speakers he used along with the greenbacks were JBL D120-F's, they had the metal dustcovers, I tried them years ago and there wasn't much magic to them but they are a part of the first album tone. He ditched them after the first album.

I'm going to NY in July, told the wife we are definitely stopping by to see this exhibit

Two things about that picture I've often wondered? Whats up with Dave's right foot, and is that even Alex behind the kit?
