I'm not seeing any of the regular white/black/red Gibson explorer's for sale on site's such as musiciansfriend.com or sweetwater.com. Are they not making or selling them any longer? I saw the new Bill Kelliher signature model. Which I can't wait to buy, but I love the regular Explorer's. What's up with this?

I'm not too sure if production has ceased or not, but i'd assume it hasn't. Sharing the explorer love around

Noticed the lack them myself.

Since they started Pleking, i've been liking the newer ones.

I just picked up my first explorer, a mid 80's Tokai tx series, and it is awesome. Surprisingly good access everywhere, and just meaty tone.

Explorer's are great guitars. I really like the Bill Kelliher model, particularly because of the binding and toggle switch location. They are truly awesome sounding guitar's. Wouldn't mind them making a whole line without pickguards, just like those from the mid 80's, and the 84 RI. But not with EMG's.

Glad to see some Explorer love on here!! I always loved the look of them. They're awkward to play sitting down but standing I never notice. I'm huge on white Explorers... dunno why. Seems like white ones are harder to come by then any others... Mine was a Faded Series model that was refinished white on the front. The sides and back are still brown. All stock. Never felt like changing anything on it.... It has a few miles on it now. The paint on the front was pretty thin so it started chipping away easily onstage... I did the Jeff Blando thing with electrical tape to cover some of it... Gives it its own vibe in a way. Love it!! Wouldn't sell it for anything!!

According to the Gibson rep, they won't be coming back anytime soon. I tried to order a white V to match my black one and was quoted an ETA of 2014.

Mine's one of the "bad" ones... an '08 IIRC. But I love it, it's just right for me and feels great in my hands. And it's fun playing lighter music on a guitar that looks so metal.

I have a white with gold hardware '81 (think Matthias Jabs without the black stripes) and I LOVE IT.

damn, it would appear that all the Bill Kelliher model explorer's are already out of stock. Geez, those went quick. Perhaps Gibson should take that into consideration and put more Explorer's out there.
