I'm looking to replace the ABR1 bridge on my 57 RI. The current ABR1 bridge rattles and the noise is driving me nuts. I've attempted to bend the retaining wire which temporarily corrected the issue, however the noise keeps returning. I'm looking at the Faber replacement bridge as an option. My question is the literature on the Faber site indicates the replacement bridge comes with starter slots. Has anyone installed one of these and was there any additional filing necessary?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Did you have to do any additional filing on the slots?

Yes, slots need to be filed. Easy to do yourself if you have the files, otherwise it's an easy job for any decent tech. Faber makes the best stuff!

Nope the slots don't really need to be cut, the guide slots work fine..I have two Fabers and didnt notch them at all.

I have a Locking ABR1 on my Traditional and a non locking ABR1 on my R7, both with unfinished brass saddles.

I have the Stock Gibson ABR-1 with retaining wire on my 57BB LPC but it doesn't rattle so I leave it be.

You could also buy a Gibson historic replacement ABR1 that doesn't use the retainer wire.
