I know this has been asked before, and I've googled it but what's your favorite boost for a late 70s JMP 2203/2204? I've got a 79 2204 coming and I have an OCD and an eq pedal that I use for my Jube. Got a Bad Monkey also. Any other suggestions? How about analogman/Keeley modded TS/SDs? Are they worth it? Thanks!

I prefer an Overdrive type over a boost. The Koko was pretty good though but I still like an OD to boost. Did not like the OCD at all. The tubescreamer types are well liked. Personally I haven't found one I liked allot. Tried a Keeley and Analogman as well as stock models. I have gotten some recommendations for a Cussack Screamer or a Greer. With my Jose Marshall I like the SoulsonicFX Illuminated OD. No mid hump and it doesn't mess with the low end. It does exactly what I want it to. I prefer a Klon circuit over a TS type. For what you want I would definitely look at the Illuminated. I am sure there are allot of good pedals out there and everyone will have different ideas. You are not going to get any help and you will still be like  after there are 100 posts in your thread.

Dude I do a conversion of an SD-1 to OD-1 specs with a slightly improved bottom end and it screams with my Plexi and 2204. Hard to believe it started out as a $39 pedal.

Stock SD-1 and BBE Green Screamer are my faves. No high dollar pedals have beat these out yet.

And if you want to get extremely heavy.......try a Whiteface RAT Reissue.

Regardless if a pedal is good and does the job, noise floor(hiss) is always a concern.

Got a Whiteface RAT Reissue a few weeks ago, can't believe I never tried one back in the 80's.

I really like the MXR modified badass OD or whatever that is called. Sounds really good with my plexi.

Stock SD-1 seems to be a Marshall's best friend.

Do you have any clips on youtube? There's one on there..gotta find it but he has a modded SD1 into a jmp master vol and it sounds as good as ANY modded Marshall I've heard..I'll try to find it..Thanks for the replies so far..

I think the Marshall JMP circuit takes an OD pedal very well based on the input configuration. Thats why so many work well.

ZW-44 works well, Bad Monkey is great (top end can sometimes be an issue for folks.. could use a bit sweeter top end) , original Marshall guv'nors are supposed to be the cat's ass. SD-1 works well but not my fave. I'd like to try that modified OD to see what it can do as well.

if you want absolutely no tone coloration to your amps tone but more of everything else,The "timmy" pedal does it for my 2203..heck, ive used it with my blackface fenders, my badcat,soldano..Ive tried the OCD,tube screamers, rat, maxons, and some others, but the timmy is thee utmost in transparency. But you may like how some other boosts "add thier own thing to the tone...another good boost is the xotic booster..
