looking to run an effects unit in the loop of my XTC- what works best? I had an line6 m9 but it sounded kind of flat- thinking of going with a TC Gmajor or Rocktron Xpression or timefactor or? thanks for any help

I really like my boss es-8 and pedals. You can use it to switch channels on the xtc as well provided you have a medusa cable...

Thanks- I could use this and run my pedals in front or through the loop and also do all my switching. Still a lot of money for me- like to get something in the $200 range total looking used rack and footswitch stuff. Hard to beat the Line 6 m9 or even a M5 just something about the sound? Liked the old line 6 MM4 pedals sound but its been a while since I used one, so who knows.

The best I've used in the loop is the Strymon stuff. All of it works so well. For a basic setup just throw an El Cap in there with a smidge of the included spring reverb and your ready to go. The XTC loop is great as far as effects go - the weakness is that it takes away from the rawness of the amp adding a bit more compression and darkness.

I use a Strymon Möbius and a DD-500 in my loop. All works perfectly and sounds great!

Strymon Timeline and BigSky, worked great with my 20th and Classic.

I know it's an old post, but I'll throw in my $0.02.

I've been using a TC Electronics Nova System in all of my amps for years. This unit seems to be especially compatible with the Bogners I've owned (Previously: 101B, 20th Shiva; Currently: Ecstasy Classic and non-reverb, EL34 Shiva), but works great with Suhr, Landry, EVH, Carol Ann as well. Since I rely on my amps for gain, I NEVER use the onboard overdrives. The reverbs, delays, and chorus effects are some of the best out there, very transparent, built-in tuner, and can be used as a programmable unit of simply a series of stomp-boxes.
