I know I'm in the minority here, but I love PRS McCartys  Nice Lester

I like solid mahogany PRS'. Standards, McCarty standards and Singlecut standards. I like them in reverse order of how I listed them. The McCarty's I change the pickups out cause I'm not a fan of the stock. The last 2 you will have to pickup used unless you find NOS at a store cause they discontinued both models. Standard 22 and 24's are still available along with the Mira(another great guitar).

Yup. Also toss the original singlecuts and custom 22's in there.

You two don't care for the two new PRS Singlecuts (SC250, SC245)?

I'm sure I'll be the only one that votes for this one but I just can't put it down.

I'm sure I'd like them, but I have no experience with them, so I'll hold my thoughts. On paper, the SC250 looks like it would be the perfect singlecut for me. 25" scale, SC250 pickups (Tremonti pickups, basically), and locking tuners...hell yea.

I'm a little confused...not unusual. By modern do you mean a modern design or a guitar for modern rock?

I had an interesting discussion yesterday with a guy who isn't a musician about new guitar designs and materials. He was curious about why guitars hadn't seemed to progress as much since their inception as other products. We considered new electronics, materials, design, and cost. Not much consensus either way. I suggested you can't change the design too much or you don't have a guitar anymore.

Regardless, modern design guitar my fave would be RG550. For modern rock you can't be a Les Paul.

Yeah, I thought "why a Gibson LP, it`s one of the LEAST modern guitars, when taking the Strat, Tele, V and Explorer out of the equation....?"

But of course you`re right. It can just as easy be interpreted "for modern rock"

I A/B/C'd my McStandard against a 245 and a Mira for about an hour one day. I liked my guitar best, Mira - 2nd and 245 - 3rd. I play modern rock I suppose, so that's why I answered the way I did. I haven't played the 250 against any of my guitars so I can't answer for sure on that one.

I have taken a liking to the solid mahogany over the maple top. I find them to be a little more focused, maybe tighter in a way. I actually sold my 2001 SC with a maple top after I got the standard SC(my avatar) because I liked it that much more, tone and feel. I'd have to play the 250 alot more to decide, but pretty sure I'd stick where I'm at.
