I've seen a few posts regarding EQ's, however, I thought I'd start a poll to make it easier to guage what's working best...or whatever.

any MXR-10 band.

im guessing para EQ's are not what your looking for im recommendations?

if so - check out the TC single-rack version of the 2240 - the 1140/1144 model. dave just scored one on ebay a few weeks ago and it was surprisingly good - better than the furman PQ-3 or PQ-6 he had.

I have only really used the MXR 10 band and the Boss but IMHO, the MXR is the clear winner of that battle.

If the MXR 10-band was 9V, I would be all over it. The Danelectro fish and chips eqs work great. I read some reviews on the Maxon EQ pedal and was surprised to see a good number of negative reviews....

I've used a few of the ones on the list, with the Fish and Chips being the one I stayed with. However it's gone now for an old MIJ Guyatone 7 band that rocks.

I love my 10 band MXR pedal. I use it on all my amps for a shaped boost.
EQ pedals are great for boosting, my amps (Marshall, Vox...) need a different color to sound nice pushing their gain.

I have a Fish and Chips that I haven't used in a while but gave it a whirl again last night. I was surprised at how much noise (hiss) it made. When the sliders are at neutral it's pretty quite, however, if I boost OR cut a frequency the noise level jumps up. In fact, I was using it with my MESA Lonestar and pulled down the 200hz slider to cut some of the lows. When I did that it introduced a bunch of hiss...too much, to the mix. I'm looking for something that is very quite.

This ^ ...but I still really like the Furman PQ-3 and 6. ;)

I also like the Boss GE-10...

I second this!

The dano isn't super quiet, better with a battery than power supply. I kept it mostly because I sold off my other more valuable pedals. Still, for about $30 it's solid.

I liked the MXR ten band that I owned a few years back. Good quality and it did the trick.

 Mine doesn't hiss AT ALL, and I'm powering it with a OneSpot. You should have heard my old Boss GE7.

Hmmm...so your Boss GE-7 was noisy?

The one in my Mark IV

I think of the 5 band EQ part of the amps tones controls because the Mark IV sounds like shit with the EQ off IMHO. You can use an EQ in the loop of your IV for a volume boost since the IV doesn't have a solo boost. The MXR is a good choice.

I take a pic so I can save the settings I like. Here's a few I found that worked great with my Peters Polaris combo.
First one I a/b it directly with a TS9 pedal and they sounded very similar. I actually like using the MXR better and sold the TS9.

As you move the faders from the center it starts gradually adding a bit of hiss...just don't drastically move the faders to far from center and it's fine.
Best way to use it is to add a bit and subtract a bit. All the faders up gets hissy.
