I have tried them all...I like bright sounding woods with thick dark pickups

Maple body with maple neck and board and motorcity pickups!

Mahogany.

Warm, not overly bright, and nicely balanced EQ.

Yep, I've become a fan of Mahogany too, particularly since putting together an all Mahogany "strat" (Rosewood fingerboard). I went with a durable oil finish instead of the traditional thick lacquer or poly finish. The resonation through the wood including the body and the sound even acoustically is just ridiculous.

High grade Mahogany without question for me, they just have the natural tone and resonance pleasurabe to my ears

I have built plenty or parts monsters in various body woods and Mahogany tops the list, followed by Swamp Ash and then Ash...alder, basswood and solid maple bottom of my list. All maple is cool when you find the right pickup to use with it but it canbe tricky.

My perfect combo is maple topped Mahogany ;)

Pure Mahogany goodness.

Curt (chubtone) at Squid Music recommended the Duncan Hybrid 59/Custom for the bridge. Awesome pickup with this guitar.

I don't have a favorite. I like most of them for different reasons. I think I do like African Mahogany more than Honduras Mahogany though.

My fav guitars have all had basswood bodies, but I don't really care what it's made of as long as it sounds good and plays well.

I'm convinced >75% of tone comes from the neck (as far as the body/neck woods are concerned). I prefer birdseye maple necks FWIW. As far as bodies, I like strats in ash usually.

Alder is always my go-to body wood. Followed by Korina and then basswood w/ maple top.

Wow some mahogany love here...but how is mahogany body with maple necks and boards?

I like plain old alder and maple for strats and teles.

Found out that my G&L is most likely maple body through some research and discussions on the GL forum. If that's the case, then I really dig maple bodied guitars!

No real preference for an electric guitar here, since wood isn't as big of a tonal component as we like to think it is. As long as it's not super heavy, I'm happy.

For acoustic, I do prefer a spruce top.
