Favorite power tubes for the VH4?

Mine shipped new with KT-77s, but I've been thinking about trying EL-34s (which I believe they were originally designed for?) to shave off some of the big low end. I've also read about a number of people that prefer 6L6s with theirs. What say you? I fucking love this amp btw, though I'm still curious about the Hagen.

Definitely 6l6 . Mesa 6l6 in them is insane . I do it my Herbert’s too

Did you notice the 6L6 tonal improvement at low to moderate volumes?...or only when cranking up a bit and getting that power section working?

All volumes it’s better imo

Can it take 5881's? My guess is yes since it can take 6L6's.

Sovtek 5881's would shave off some low-end while still having the open 6L6 high-end with a hint of EL34 high-mid agression.

6L6s just fit the tonality of my VH4 - TAD Redbase are great as are JJ's .
The Gold Lion KT77 is also good but a bit lighter in the low end ...
