Anyone played these new Fender models? Seem kinda interesting. I wish they would give us more specifics on the pickups. Some people say their Duncans, others Duncan Designed, and others say designed by Fender.

I've been looking for a cheap strat to add to the collection. This might be perfect  Daphine blue with a rosewood board

Does anyone know how these are routed? I'd like to be able to play around with the pickups. Single-coils, P90's, 'buckers.

I'd be interested in the Jaguar/Jazzmaster models if they would just sell them with some interesting finish options. Black and silver? How awesome.

I've heard they play nice. My local music store had a Blacktop Strat and Jazzmaster, and they both went VERY quickly. The 'buckers are H-H I believe, except for the Jazzmaster which has a humbucker in the bridge and a Duncan-Designed SoapBar single-coil in the neck.

Yeah, I read that on the site. But it doesn't say who makes the Humbuckers. Fender designed, Seymour Duncan, Duncan Designed, ect...

I would assume except where noted (the single coil) they are all fender pups. But I could be wrong too :D

That's what I thought, but I've read otherwise online. And they don''t have any stamps on the bottom of them. Lame.

Did not like the Black Top Jaguar or Jazzmaster.
MIM Warning!
These will have the over-sized neck pocket rout which IMO effects the tone negatively.
Also be very careful regarding the Mexico ultra-wide spaced bridge and string alignment issues.
The pickups were very unspectacular.
Still, if you can play one and are happy with how it plays and the tone of the guitar in general, a simple pup and electronics swap
could give you a great player for a relatively reasonable cost.

Interesting, that does not sound too cool.

I used to have a Jaguar MIJ HH, great guitar. Wish I still had it, the Dragster pickups were nice. Mainly seen them in black/chrome finish. http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0259200306

I have a Players Deluxe MIM that I'm guessing is early in that line, because it doesn't have the switching options that later years have, that has an awesome tone. Real super heavy ash body. Neck pup is good, middle and bridge, just so-so. Gold hardware is kinda ghey. Want to try Injectors in this one. Biggest bummer is 21 fret neck, wish it had 22.

I've played tons of RW's, not happy with the hardware choice by Fender. First year or so of RW Strat production had the bridge misaligned. I did like the tone of a couple of Teles out of a dozen or so I played.

I've bought a half-dozen plain ol' MIM Strats for students that were pretty good, the last one about two years ago.

I do not like the quality of the 72 Deluxe RW body and the RI pups are an embarrassment.

Really, really, really wanted to like the Blacktop models.
The Jag and Jazzy both had crap rosewood boards. Very coarse and soft.
Both just felt dead, no snap or sizzle to them at all.
I will try the Strat and Tele when they come in.
Hope one of those two are a winner.
