I've basically settled on these to be the replacements for my current SCN's in my Am Dlx Strat (I have a feeling I wont be missing the S-1 switching)

They seem to get solid reviews, but I just wanted to see if any of you guys had experience with them and comment accordingly. Thanks

I like them, they sound good clean and with overdrive.
Sweet pickups. Also look into Rockerfire 60's, thats
what I have now and really like them.

my current favorite true single coil. the neck position sound is just wonderful. Its not really that hot too which i like...i'll tell ya something though, i recently played a strat with the Fender 57'/62' single coil set ( not custom shop and very afforable) and they sound the way a strat should sound. think Jeff Beck "Wired" tone !

I bet you'd dig the Rocketfire 60's!!

This is what I'm looking for. I think the SCN's sound good with higher gain tones, but clean is a different story. With clean tones, they just sound kind of dull and lifeless, IMO. I'm always left wanting more of the classic Strat sound.

Interesting about the 57'/62' set. I didn't even think about them. Are they comparable with the CS 69's? The CS 69's are almost $200 new ($30 more than the 57'/62's), so if I saved a little cash and still got a nice sound I certainly wouldn't be complaining :)

yes they are comparable in output and very close in terms of tone. The 69's have a little better bass response and obviously hand wired..i needed to really play it more to make a solid comparison.

I considered the Fender CS69's when I got my CS54's, but the reviews on the CS69's were a bit more mixed.

I am very happy with the CS54's except for the bridge. It sounds great in position 2 but just the bridge alone is way too thin.

BTW if you look on ebay you should be able to find the CS69's for about $150 new....

I did notice that the 69's got some reviews that weren't exactly stellar. It seemed that many of the complaints were concerning the hum. I think some also mentioned that they didn't care for the way the pole pieces were staggered. It did seem that the majority were positive, though.
