I think I may have caused a short by having two grounds (re-used Fender Trem and body cavity) but not sure. My electrical knowledge is low.
I wired in the new pickups VooDoo '60 from David Allen using the diagram below (or at least got close.
The first issue I have is that I’m seeing the volume knob only works on “10” - appears to be a no-load pot. Prior to installing the new pickups I decided (maybe unwisely) to try and recycle/reuse the old pots.....which were a little sketchy. I used some electrical contact cleaner to see if I could get them in fighting shape, so not sure if I was too aggressive on the volume and goofed it up.
The other issue I am having is that in position "2" (second position from bridge end) the tone knob doesn't work for the middle pickup (which I think it should) using the forward (middle) tone knob.
What was odd, is that when I removed the OEM (Fender) SCN pickups there were two ground wires, one to the body, as shown in the photo below on the right (top row) and to the tremolo (same photo). I left both connected to the volume pot (original), which I think may be acting like a short, but ready and likely to be soon corrected.
Sooooo......did I ruin the volume and/or tone pot(s) during soldering?
Should I remove the ground wire to the screw in the body?
Andy other mistakes and/or troubleshooting I can do?
Thank you to everyone and hopefully the photos are somewhat helpful.
