I am in the market for a new cab, and I keep seeing these on line, but not in store. Has anyone tried either of them? They seem like a great deal baltic birch 412 with V30s for $600. Anyone with thoughts on these??

That Machete cab looks pretty sweet. The specs for both say they are 33x36x18. If that's actual cab dimensions and not shipping dimensions, those are pretty big cabs. I suspect they are a more traditional 30x30x14 give or take, especially considering their weight.

I'm assuming these are made in the same Ensenada factory as the EVH cabs. If so, that's a nice selling point for me and I loooove my EVH cab and the construction is awesome.

I've been looking for a 16 ohm V30 cab to mate up to my EVH, these are now on my list.

Thanks!

I can't speak to these cabinets specifically but the old Tonemaster cab I had was great. Just as good if not better than the mesa 4x12 I had awhile back. Fender cabs fly under the radar so you can find them dirt cheap used if you look

Thanks for the replies, but I found the size spec for the supersonic. It is small and front loaded, kind of reminds me of the Carvin Legacy 412 I had for a little while, that is a definite pass. The same dimensions are listed for both cabs so I assume the Machete cab is the same thing but with different tolex.

Also I think I am going to get a custom oversized 212 from Saxon cabs.

What specs did you find? The site lists them at 33x36x18, which is bigger than pretty much any 4x12 currently on the market. Most are around 30x30x14.

I found one site that listed it as 27" wide, and you could see the he speakers are really close. I am sure that listed dimension is the packed.

ew, yeah, bummer...

EDIT

I'm not sure if the pic and cab listed on the AMS site is the same as the CURRENT SS cab...

Here's the 27" width one listed on AMS:

and here's the current one:

One is listed on the site as "SuperSonic" (all one word) and the other is 2 words "Super Sonic"

the bottom one looks wider considering the placement of the speakers.

One looks front loaded vs. rear loaded on the other.

for 600 bones for a 16ohm Vintage 30 loaded cab, I think I may take the chance if I can get my Diezel 4x12 sold.

The plot thickens. I think I might have to make a few calls. I am torn between one of these vs 5150 212 vs Saxon oversized 212. All are within $100. If the new fender cabs are built similar to the evh cabs they are a complete steal at $600.

Exactly what I was thinking. Ive found some sites where the machete cab was a lot more. I wonder if they adjusted the price due to no demand. Msrp was 1450, now 999

Are you guys in Canada or the US? I haven't seen a Machete 4x12 go for $599 of all the major Canadian online stores I could think of (Steve's, L&M, Cosmo), still $999 CDN as far as I've found. GC in the States lists them for $599. On an unrelated note, the Machete 50W head dropped from ~$1699 to $1099 a few months ago.

I am in Calgary, here it is on L & M at $599 I think it was released not that long ago so there is no stock yet from what I can see

Also guitar centre has a used supersonic 412 the larger one with more space between the speakers, and it says on the front tag 3/4" baltic birch, and it is front loaded.

If its used though they could have just pulled specs off the web and they may not be accurate unless you can see the speakers in the pic.

In the pics I posted, one looks front loaded and the other looks rear loaded.

Who knows. ..

hmm, I'm more interested in the Machete, I wonder what it's true dimensions are...
