I can appreciate good humor that I don't necessarily agree with...

I personally don't care for them myself but install them if asked. I just don't care for the way they mess with the NFB circuit but some people love them.

I have the LarMar in my Adam Jones clone. I like it a lot, but I haven't heard the amp without it installed because I'm back to apartment living again. Maybe one day!

What amp did you have that in, George?

Blech...and people complain about attenuators. :)

Hi Dale. It's been living in my '68 plexi 100 watt Supertremolo head since 1988....its nice to end that infestation.

I love being able to hear when I'm 65.
Its only 128 watts @ clipping...that's not too harmful. :D

I have the Lar/Mar PPIMV in my Metro Super Lead and it sounds great. At the very least, it's WAY better than any attenuator I've tried. And that includes the "good" ones like the Aracom and Faustine.

How's your Jones Clone sound? I forget, did you contact me a while back asking for component values and such?

I'm sticking with my Hotplate....now to get my melted Juice Extractor fixed. The 1959RR nuked it.

I've actually never tried a Hot Plate. But with the Aracom and Faustine, the PPIMV sounded pretty much EXACTLY the same, if not slightly better. So I figure, why spend hundreds of dollars on an attenuator when $10 in parts does the same thing.

I've not tried the others, but I'm happy with the Hotplate. It's fine down to the -16db setting. The volume control if using it, affects the sound alot which I don't like but I never use it.

I like the Rocktron (loadbox only) better since it has the parametric eq and speaker curves. I cant believe I melted it though!

The Rivera unit looks cool, but it's only rated to 120 watts....my plexi is 128 db @ clipping so that may not work for long.

Those mv's just get too weird lower than 3:00 for me.

I do not like the ppimv installed on my 77 JMP 4 hole, The master Fortin is going to go through it and make it a great stock JMP once he has some time.

The masters installed on the clipping Jose circuits is ok esp with a depth control but still I hear what George is saying in his suttle ways

THEY SOUND LIKE CRAP!!!!!! How's that for subtle?

A customer brought me an amp to work on which has one of these mv's in it already. I'm playing the amp and tweaking and everytime I turn that mv down, it just gets that weird thin fuzzy thing going. I don't get it, you guys don't mind this? I hope this guy is cool with me taking it out. :)

I'm with ya dude. I tried the larmar and the rich mod and some other one. I much prefer the hotplate or my ho attenuator. To me the ppimv loses all the body of the tone, at least to me on my amps they do.

Nah, I got mine from Friedman. I think we talked about it via PM though. Mine sounds fairly spot on with his. I had Ben Fargen rip the board and FX loop out of a 2203x, change the values to what Friedman said, replace the OT with a Marstran C1998, jump the channel internally and install the LarMar PPIMV. It slams! It's also LOUD when it want it to be, but the LarMar tames it down. I also like how the channel volumes allow it to add different shades and character to low and high frequencies.

Didn't you build yours from a Metro kit?
