Finally got the Herb!!

So my Herbert arrived to my house last Thursday to my girlfriend. Everything was kosher with it, it's in mint condition. The guy told me it had 6L6's, but I had my girlfriend pop the back grill off and they are all EL34's. Whatever though it's not a big deal. I guess the guy I bought it from doesn't pay attention to his equipment. I had her run through everything and it all seems to work great. 10 weeks and I'll be shredding again. I can't wait to throw a review up here!! Osceana you're slacking!! I'll have a pic posted soon, not like you guys haven't ever seen a Herbert before but I'm excited :rock: . The EL34's are supposed to be running in between 60 and 65 mA? Is that correct? Thanks again guys!!

Haha no man I'm deployed right now unfortunately. Dude I got so confused at people saying 30 to 35 mA. Then I thought I'm a dumbass.....you bias them in pairs. I'll have to check them when I get back. Thanks for the info!!

Beautiful rig. Congragulations. I'm looking to add a Herbert or a VH4 at some point and I can't wait for your demo.
 
be careful biasing you amp. But there seriously is enough amps on certain parts of the board to kill you. It's not a "oh man i just slipped and this thing shocked me hahaha" it's more of a: Your girlfriend walks in the room to find you dead over your amp because you slipped, kind of thing... I can't remember... Does this have the external bias feature on it? If it does then youre fine lol

Hahaha. :lol: :LOL: Proxmax, you have NO IDEA what Chris had to go through to get this Herbert. He did very bad things, very bad, evil things....but he has a Diezel now.

And yeah, man, I am slacking, but that will be fixed soon enough. My cab arrived yesterday. It is BEAUTIFUL. Hey- actually, side note: it has two 1/4" inserts in the back. I know the cab is 16 ohm, but neither of these inserts is labeled. I haven't bothered to look up the info on this yet, I will, just figured since I'm here I might as well ask. Which one of these do I use with my amp?

I will take pics of the cab once the head arrives. I want it to be complete. Paying for it on Friday and it's shipping down to Chicago from Ontaria, CA, so hopefully it will be here by a week from this Friday??? I cannot WAIT!

So if your cab is 16 ohms mono, yet has two jacks, there should be one jack labeled mono or at least one that has a red or silver ring around it or something like that. That's the mono input and with one cab you will be running into that jack from your Herbert's 16 ohm output. Should you decide to get another 16 ohm cab, which I highly recommend :D Then you would run each cab into their mono jacks from Herbert using the two 8 ohms speaker outs.

Herbert has one 16 ohm, two 8 ohm, and two 4 ohm outputs. My Diezel cabs are 8 ohms mono, so I run a full stack out of the 4 ohm outputs from Herbert. :rock: RAWK!!

@Banana Yes sir, it's got the the external bias points. I've been messing with tube heads for about 5 years, which I know is nothing, haha. My first tube head was a Crate V100..I think. I had to rip that bitch apart to bias it. It was a huge pain in the ass. Lucky for me I work with electronics in the Air Force and have a pretty good understanding of electronics. I also watched a few videos on biasing at www.eurotubes.com the guy on there is pretty good. I don't think I'll have any issues with the Herbert, especially with those convenient external bias points!! :-)

@Aristocat As soon as I get home to play it I'll defintely get a good review up here. Not that you really need it to know how badass this thing is, but for sure I'll let you know

@Osceana Haha, once I get my matching cab, it will be pretty close to which one is prettier. I can only get away with that because she doesn't read this shit, haha. Can't wait for you to get your MKII and post some pics with your guitars. It should look sick. Are you planning on getting that Wilder footswitch? I think I'm going to pick one up when I get back to the states. They seem like the perfect size and very simplistic, perfect for me!! I want to see your Vertigo!!

@RJF Naked boobies are nice, but come on man a Diezel Herbert!?! I'm actually marrying her when I get back so I'll have the Diezel and the tits!!

Haha thanks dude. She's a keeper!! Plus she's pretty good at guitar. She's a way better finger picker than I am but she can't use a pick to save her life. :-)
