After what must be well over a year of bothering Dave with questions and going through a few amps (and some time with none at all), I finally decided to get an amp over to Hollywood. This one is a little different as it is a Metroamp JTM45 with a Marstran transformer and KT66 tubes. I am looking at getting the C45 and Cantrell mods. Dave said that he has not done one of those before and is interested to see how it works out with the kt's in there. I like that it is a bit less wattage than a 50w plexi and am darn curious to see what Dave can do with it. Amp is just going out to him today so it will be a while as Dave said he is very busy, but after all this time I can way.

By the way, I must say that Dave has been amazing answering all of my questions. Really a nice guy.

Congrats!
Dave has worked on a lot things for me in the past. Always answered my questions and even called me a couple of times to ask me EXACTLY what I wanted done on some jobs. Great guy and really easy to deal with.

Dave just let me know today that he is ready to work on my amp. We are going with the C45, BE and JBE with a master volume. Ready in about a week. Can you say psyched????!!!!!!

Can't wait to see/hear this one. I demand clips, sir.

I thought Dave wasn't doing the Cantrell mod (JBE) anymore? Some rumblings of a signature amp? If he's doing it now, it sounds like it might have fallen through. That's too bad.

I do the jbe on marshalls. Just not with my amp.

Well got the amp a while back and got to play it over the weekend and all I can say is that it sounds awesome! The JBE is killer! I was playing AIC with my 335 and it was just a great tone. And I have to say that this amp cleans up great. Thanks Dave for all of your help with this amp I could not be happier with it.

Not sure what you are talking about there Charveldan...I joined in 2007, but got the amp a few weeks ago.

I dont have anything to make clips with right now...maybe in a few weeks.

What is the diff between the BE and the JBE....to the best of your ability to explain (of course)

Well, I am not really good at describing things, but overall I would say that the JBE is a bit thicker and maybe a touch more gain?

Either i read it wrong or the date changed on the OP.

The JBE is more modern sounding, there is quite a bit more gain. The JBE is very similar to the Sat. switch but with more lows and possibly a little more highs as well. The gain is also voiced a little harsher/more aggressive than the regular BE.

Resurrection on this post...Getting into 4 holers, I have a Marshall JTM45 on the way and was wondering what the JBE mod cost and what other mods are available for the JTM platform?

Thanks in advance

I think it's a switch so maybe $50-100 (could be wrong).

I think the JTM could accept BE/HBE/C45/SAT as it is a NMV platform. Best to contact Dave directly.

You'll be happy no matter what Dave does. I just got mine back and I want to add more stuff because his mods are that fun/useful.

As I understand it, Dave does not do the JBE anymore. Any other questions should be sent to Dave. It was a great amp, but I sold it a while ago.
