Went into a small boutiquey vintage guitar store today. In the presence of several pricey vintage LP's and Strats was an Edwards Goldtop for $800. That actually seems about 100 bucks too high for a used one, no? Anyway, i liked it but it was light, felt like a chambered or weight relieved LP. But other than the headstock the fit and finish was GREAT. Yes, it was as good or better than plenty of new LP's. It had a little buzz here and there on the neck but the action was pretty low and it felt like 9 gauge strings. I didn't get to plug it but it sounded pretty good acoustically considering the action was low with wimpy strings on it.

For the price and what you get it seemed like a great deal. I have 2 Anderson's which i love, but i know I'll have to add a LP along they way sometime. I'll have to seriously consider one of these now since Gibson's are soo damm expensive.

I had a friend that had one and I thought at the time it was a cheap LP copy and then I played it and was blown away with the tone of it.

I wish I still had the Sykes that I had, cool guitar.

Which are the one's to avoid? I see those JP models at around $1000, they look sweet. And yes, those Sykes models look like goodness.

check out an Epi Elitist LP (I have one and love it). Great finish and fret job compared to my MIJ Ibanez Presting RG1570.

It's a heavy LP as well, the real shit...

Sah5150 was selling his Sykes awhile ago all upgraded and ready to go, that would have been a good buy.

I just recently picked this up and could not be any happier with the results!!To very little to dial in a killer setup!I did pick this one up from a forum member but it's not here yet :(

Anything 112-CE and higher are the customs and upper models.

I'll take my Agile 3100 over the Edwards CE-112 I had. The Edwards was sweet but I like the Agile better.

Oh dude, you'll like it! :D

As for the comparisons to Agile, Epi; etc.... there are no comparisons IMO.

Edwards is by far a better guitar for the dollar.

The only "LP-style" guitars that compare are the Lawsuit-era Ibanez' and Burny Super Grade

The Navigator series is better than the Edwards series. Don't forget old Tokais and Grecos, either.

I played some Agiles when Rondo music was still here in Union NJ. I thought they were all crap, IMHO. I mean, really shitty guitars. Not sure if other models are better than the ones i played. But i played a bunch of them.

I'm extremely happy with mine. I want to get an Edwards gold top.

OK. I have no idea what I'm talking about. While nbarts and motorpud can both agree that the CE112 I had was sweet(they both also owned it), my Agile 3100 smokes it in every way. Sorry to hijack.
