Started populating the PCB ........ missing a few components that weren't in stock when I ordered for this build almost a year ago ...

just wish I had more time ...

The kits are the best way to start, in my humble opinion.

I'll second this .... unless you already have some experience sourcing parts ...... IMO that can be just as much work as building it

Build a few pedals first .............. it's really not that much different ( other than the voltage in an amp can fry your aorta shut ) ..... especially if you are doing a PCB based build .
Ya that’s definitely good advice

Looking nice.

The part keeping me from one of these builds is sourcing the components. I don't want to pay $10 shipping several times around having to buy .12 cent resistors from several places.

Where did you get all your stuff? Or maybe a better way to ask, where could you find quality components needed all in one place?

I don't think you'll find everything in one place ... for the whole build ......but as far as populating the PCB .... everything on there with the exception of the Sozo caps were sourced from Mouser . Jason supplies part #'s for Mouser on the BOM . I believe you can get everything from Mouser if you want to go Cornell Dubilier where I have the Sozo's .

I also subbed what ever resistors he had on there for these Vishay Metal Films that I stumbled onto on the Marshall forum . They have a 1W size footprint but are rated for 2W . I used them in my 2204/JEL Build along with Sozo's and I'm super happy with the results .

I had to go with two different vendors for the Sozo's ( someone is always sold out of one value you need )

Headshell , Trannies , and chassis came from Ceriatone per Jason's suggestion ( careful here ... great prices till you get to shipping )

I'm pretty sure all the other Off board hardware with the exception of Tubes came from Amp Parts Direct

and I bought some of that Teflon coated wire from I think Tube Depot .... this stuff is incredible .... you can't melt this stuff ... at least I couldn't .

Metal film resistors wouldn’t habe been my first choice for a build, beside maybe spots were I need high wattage on small space.
Any particular reason why you are happy with them?

I've only built one amp .... a 2204 that I modded into Friedman JEL spec .... The amp sounds incredible to me ...... so I stick with what sounds good to me .... that simple .....
funny thing is ..... I mostly prefer metal film in building my pedals too ....
