First Gear Score of 2017 (Bogner, Koko) *XTC Clip Added

I had a chance to grab an extremely clean, little used 2013 Bogner 101B (w/EL34s) and I couldn't say no. I've heard many clips and such over the years and always loved it but never pulled the trigger. I even grabbed the red pedal when they launched and dug that fwiw but now had a chance to nab the real McCoy. I traded the SmallBox and paid some cash but felt it was worth it, we're both happy. To me, the xtc can cover the same type things but then it has the added saturation/gain, where the SB needs a boost for that (or a SAT mod, etc). Different flavor amps, I know, but the Bogner seems a little more complimentary to the SLO than the Friedman, so it was a preference thing, def no disrespecting of the SB, totally bitchin' amp in its own right!

I also grabbed a used Suhr Koko Boost original just before cutting the SB loose (thought I'd be using it with that amp). Just for shits and grins I tried it in front of the SLO and damn, I LOVE this pedal!!!

Anyway, here's the porn (no clip yet of the Bogner, looks like there's gonna be a small learning curve with all these toggles and what not lol). Big thanks to yngzaklynch for answering all my 101B questions and tossing me some suggested starter settings too.

For me, the Koko is the best boost I have tried by far.
 
Nices scores. The XTC is the best amp available. Especially if you want/need to do more than one thing.
 
Nice score. I spent limited time with a 101B years ago and would love to give one another go some time.
 
Thanks gents!! Getting it dialed in a lot quicker than I was expecting (I asked yngzaklynch for some settings cuz his clips sound killer IMO, and they were right in my wheelhouse, minor tweaking and I'm good)! It's sounding great through vintage Greenbacks. Yet to spin it through the blackback cab but I'm thinking that'll be nice as well. I know lots of owners luv it with V30's but I currently have none. Also, much like the Friedman was, slightly surprised at how well it sounds at umm, normal home/light band volume! I know like most big watters, it'll sound better and better with more vol, but for my first go at tones I have the volume at 9:30 and it's sounding great.

Oh like any tube amp... the goods really come on with some volume and the speakers get moving
 
XTC is a fantastic amp! Just sold mine and the 212CB cab that I had. Made a few $$$ on it as I got it used a while back and moved to a different setup. One of my good friends purchased it for his collection, so I can use it anytime I want. I already have a EL-34 based amp and wanted something different with a bit more control over all of the channels.
 
Ok, its been a few days and I think I'm getting to where a clip can be shared! :lol: :LOL:

This is short but I like to work quick - make a few clips, give the ears time to settle down and sample, repeat.

Nice set-up.

Try out the Clean Channel volume maxed and use the Gain 1 knob for your volume, then Scoop the Mids out.
Assign Ch 1 Pres B and B1 for Pre-Eq. Get some Fenderish vibe happening.
 
I love using my 100b with my SLO. Great synergy there. Congrats!!!
