I told you. Give the twin some time and just keep dialing in the pedals on the front end. And don't wine about how heavy it is no matter what. All the pedals in my signature work well in front of a combo IMHO. I'm still working the SD-1 out but I think its a keeper.

Sweet, just a matter of finding the right pedal to match up with it

Okay, I was NOT getting good tones the other day at rehearsal using the ToneBone Classic through the new Twin Reverb Reissue. It just wasn't happening for me. The other guys said it sounded okay, but I wasn't hearing it.

In the meantime, I bought a slightly older Wampler Pedals (Indyguitarist) Plextortion off eBay. I just received it yesterday right before I had to get ready for the gig. Plugged it in for 20 minutes or so and thought it sounded good, so I decided to take it with me. The pedals can get super trebly/buzzy because of the presence, but dialing that back produced good tones.

I used the Plextortion into the Twin Reverb Reissue last night and let me tell you that I had some KILLER tone going on! My problem wasn't the amp, it was the ToneBone Classic pedal. This Plextortion is a MONSTER! Sounds freaking HUGE through this amp. Very inspiring! I was playing all kinds of "out of the box" lead stuff last night because my tone was so good.

Oh hell yes... I loved it. Got several compliments on my tone too from people that knew I had a different rig. Wow, I just can't believe how kick ass this pedal is...

Gotta head out for now, but I'll be back. Discuss this amongst yourselves...

Glad to hear it worked out for you dude!

I checked out those Wampler pedals and they sound pretty good but the dude certainly is proud of them! lol (read mucho casho)

That's awesome! Are you going to try a few other amps like the Bassman etc before your 30 days are up, or are you pretty much satisfied?

How do you think that Plextortion would sound in front of a Plexi?

I've been looking at a twin reverb to pair with my new tele!

your not helping my GAS man! What's the twin like on its own, and with a good overdrive? gimme a tone to compare to?

Cool man, I was impressed by the clips of that pedal, I may have to try and find one now! Glad It worked out for you! :)

I wanna hear that pedal. I liked the Youtube clips.

I'm also gassing for a Classic 30 based on what I heard today.

Fuck, I need to stay off the computer.....

I just found out that a gig I'm doing in Nashville will have Twins as the backline.....I typically don't use pedals....I can bring my own guitars but not amps....the only OD pedal I currently own is a YJM308....and I'm playing the majority of leads on the rock/r&b tunes we do! Soooo....I'll be bringing my Jackson Fusion with the built in wah circuit and scrambling around here to put some pedals together that hopefully will sound good enough with an amp I haven't played in over 20 years to get me by. :scared:

I'm really liking the Pinnacle pedal demo too.

Sounds like this guy makes great pedals...thanks for the find.

Yikes... How long do you have to get your stuff together? I would send you this Plextortion to use, but this is my only amp and distortion pedal, so I kinda need it!

You got rid of your plank Cranker

What type of gain does the plextortion have, is it similar to a MI audio crunchbox?

Good to hear that the twin is working out for you....

Have you tried both channels with your pedals yet? I want to try that with my combo just to get a reverb on one side and dry on the other. I think a dry overdriven SD-1 might just be the ticket for single note lead work but I have not tried it yet. Could be some of the pedals you have may do the same. Check that out before you start selling stuff and let me know what's up.

I really like the vids of the Wampler pedals. I am picking up an Ego compressor soon from him.

:)

I bought one of these pedals to try out. I ended up trading it for an OCD -- It's a nice pedal, very brown, lots of gain with a switchable gain boost. It works really well for lead tones with a good delay after it,..sounds great but for rhythms it's not so good IMO.

I'd like to try the Plextortion for sure.

I've got a couple weeks. It's on 6/19. Godin is going to let me borrow a guitar, or two, with some active pickups for that show. That should help to break up a Twin at reasonable volumes...especially with an EMG81 in the bridge. I'll be riding the volume on the guitar and setting the amp really dark with the YJM as a boost, but I'm hoping it'll work out. I'm still pushing to see if we can at least get a couple Super Sonics on stage or maybe a a couple EVH 5150 IIIs. I may even contact Budda....but we'll see how the Fender contacts go first.

whilst were on the topic of fenders, a local band that plays around here uses fender bandmaster heads with a les paul and a strat.

Both use those womaniser pedals with the valves in them (cant remember what they are called now! )

but they get an AWESOME rock tone. It took the piss how much better sounding they were than my dsl and my other guitar players dual rec. I'm trying to search for a myspace link but I cant find anywhere so

yeah, the first time I played with them they cracked out the original black beauty les paul...nice.

then the strat...nice.

then the bandmasters...nice! (apart from when you have to carry them, SO heavy!)

then they plugged in the womanisers...oh hell no.

the whole room went silent. They just said "guys, trust us!"

they wiped the floor with us playing and tone wise. Some of the nicest guys that I have met. I must admit, I didn't like them the first time I saw them, and they seem really cocky, but then you talk to them

heres a clip on youtube I found, excuse the shirt off moments, it was the hottest day of the british year when filmed!

yeah, he sounds like he's about to die!

They do get heavier than that sometimes, and also lighter, but the thing that pisses me off is that they can go nuts on stage like in the video, and hit every note dead perfect... gits.

that song was recorded with a standard sss strat and the les paul you see in the video, I do believe.
