This came stock in a 2012 MIM Strat. Does anyone know what Floyd this is and what upgrade might drop in? I did a rough measurement of the stud spacing (on center) and got 2 7/8". The Schaller is 2 15/16" so I'm thinking it might fit.

Also, this block looks like brass to me. I didn't expect that.

If this Floyd is a decent one I may just leave it in there.

Thanks.
Dave

Not sure I do. If this Floyd is made well I'll leave it in. I just don't know anything about it.

Look on the bottom of the base plate. If it is stamped "made in Germany" it is an original floyd rose. That looks like a Ping licensed floyd of a FR1000. Typically found on imports. Made out of different materials than the OG floyd.

1000 series is probably correct. Oddly I got a guitar that came with one of these. I was excited to swap out the Floyd for an original German. :m17:
It sounded much better with the 1000 series so I put it back in.

Dont replace it, why spend $180 on a new bridge when this one is fine, my Usa wolfgang has a korean floyd and it works great..

Does it stay in tune? Leave it until the blades are shot!

Yep. Ping. I've got three. Two on Peavey Wolfgang Archtops and one I put in a strat. Absolutely zero issue with any of them. Since 1998 and still going strong.

Then it stays. :)

I'm actually considering returning it today and just ordering a Kiesel Bolt with a Floyd. I'm not decided yet though. I got a great deal on this but I think i want to at least change one or all of the pickups. I also need a case or a gig-bag. We'll see. The Music Zoo closes at 6pm so I have to decide by them.

PS

The block looks like brass no?

Pings work pretty great. I have one from a MIM Fender and it never gave me trouble. Seems a little stouter than the 1000 even.
