At times I can hear the springs ring out a bit. What can I do or use to reduce or eliminate that ringing that takes place?

Thanks in advance!

Stick a Q-tip down each spring. There are more elegant solutions, but that one's always worked for me.

There was a thread about this, maybe a year ago. One of the more popular home remedy was clear tubing inserted, I cut up a pipe cleaner, a little longer than the spring and kinda bent it over at the end...keeps it from working itself out during bends. And then Of course, you could buy coated springs.

I kind of like it when they make noise. But you can get the Fu-Tone red ones that are pretty quiet. I have them in several of my FR-equipped guitars.

I have a set of the black Floyd Rose ones I'll just send you. I've been using the red ones myself. I'd be happy to help if you want them

I cut a sponge into strips and wove a strip through the springs. Cheap and fast way to fix a bunch of guitars.

Black ones are lighter tension. Red ones higher. Work great. $2500+ guitars deserve 11.99 or so for some springs.

When moving from generic springs to the heavy duty (red) springs, you may find it necessary to break them in with a lot of diving or even back out claw screws some to compensate for the increased tension so that dives return to pitch.

It's nothing significant but it was certainly a "duh" moment for me the first time I upgraded. :)

I use a thick rubber band on the inside of each spring. I've been doing this for a long time without issue. Costs like 20 cents. ;)

Get a set of the noiseless Floyd Rose springs and just replace the ones you have. $11.99:

yes...replace the springs. I've fixed this by just getting regular springs but can't go wrong for 12 bucks for noiseless ones ;)

This is absolutely the way to go.

So many great solutions. Really, it just need something to lightly touch the spring so that it doesn't resonate. I use some simple heat shrink tubing. I only shrink it very slightly and it still moves on the spring. Works perfectly!

I stick a few cotton balls in the cavity between the springs :)

I just put a piece of duct tape across them..also a rubber band around the strings just past the nut . They ring up there too.

For those who put tape on their springs - how does the guitar come back in tune?? Any drag on the springs causes the trem to not return to pitch, for me anyway.

I like rubber bands.
