Hey, I've got an ESP Forest GT and I'm interested in having the bridge changed to a Gotoh Wilkinson VS100. After playing two Petrucci models (std and bfr) I'm just soooo done with locking bridges. Been there, done that, never going back. I just don't see the point, you know? Tuning, changing strings, just SO low maintenance with a nonlocking bridge.
So my question is... visual aesthetics of a huge gap in the bridge aside, is this a feasible conversion? Would it ruin the instrument? Would/could I have the nut replaced as well (with locking tuners installed obviously)?
Second, would it be possible to install a piezo system? If so, which would you recommend, and how much would parts + service cost me?
Third, my particular gutiar is in transparent white, and I'm interested in having it refinished to transparent black. Is this possible to do, and relatively how much would it cost?
And my third question is regarding pickups... Seymour Duncan JB (TB4) and Hot Rails are cool, I'm sure, albeit kinda generic, no? I'm thinking of swapping them for a Dimarzio D-Sonic and Cruiser (à la Marco Sfogli, n'est pas?) or possible one of the other Cruiser/HR looking pickups... Fast Track, FT2, something else? Visually, I think that'll really complement the sleek/modern look of the guitar (if you haven't noticed my login name, I'm big on visuals
) but in terms of sound, what do you guys think? I'm possibly considering an Anderson H3 bridge pickup as an alternative to the D-Sonic, also. Completely diff ballpark, I know, but...
... thoughts?
Thanks.
