Now that the novelty and hype of this "all analog" release has cooled down a little (at least for me) I'd say this one ranks somewhere in the low to middle of their releases.
Very cool album, but for me it doesn't have the craftsmanship or depth of the two albums before it, nor the innocence and great songwriting of Color and shape, or Nothing left to Lose.
IMO Color and Shape was their "masterpiece" and In Your Honor was their high achievement, as far as pushing their sound/formula to its limit. One of the best double albums ever. The second disk (the acoustic one) was brilliant.
Still, I love the band and their stuff beats out most of the rock out there. It's unrealistic to expect someone to keep topping their old material, especially given the lengthy career the Foos have had. The fact that they are still going strong and writing good music is an achievement in itself.
