I am wanting to get a Marshall 2203 modded and was wondering how these mods are different(tone wise).

I love the Cameron LG/HG Jose mods and thats what I am looking for. Also I have a PT-100 and was wondering how close these mods would be to it.

Thanks!

Hey. I can't speak to the Fortin because I have never heard one. I can say that the Friedman with the Saturation switch in Brown Eye mode is dead nuts to a Cameron Jose mod. I have had Pschodaves old Jose here as well as several others. I just sold a high gain/low gain Cameron because it was so close to my Friedman. It was killer but I don't need two of the same. 232cap just got a PT100 and we had it side by side with my Friedman and the difference to my ears is this. The PT has killer bottom end and throw with a super close Marshall vibe to it. In comparision the Friedman has a smoother less grainy feel to it but is definately thinner compared to the PT. The PT has a slightly modern tone about it, not in a bad way, and the Friedman is pure hot rodded Marshall. They are two different animals so I think you would be happy with both together. Shit I wish I had a PT now hearing Arts because it wouldn't be redundant. That's why I keep my Uberschall, something different.

based on the clips I have heard, The Fortins can go into the modern territory quite nicely and might be closer to the PT at the end of the day. Not sure though.

I think this is pretty Killer advice. I have not played Daves stuff but when I heard some clips of his Kitchen sink with the added Saturation switch I thought it sounded killer and it did remind me of the Camerons. I know that Tonmazz is very familiar with all of this stuff, so if he had the two amps to compare and he is saying that it has the Cameron vibe then I think that you have your answer! Oh and just so we are clear, Im not saying that Dave is cloning Camerons LMAO. It's his spin on the Jose stuff!!

As far as my Experiance with the Fortin Cali Mod vs the Camerons they are completely different in the Mids and they most definitely have more gain on tap then the Camerons (not that you would ever need it but They do!!)
It is a Jose inspired amp with a different mid voicing and some added swithces and you have the ability to have your stock or should I say Mikes version of a stock Marshall!!

I've never played a Friedman but i own a Cali mod and I've played the Cameron Jose amps. IMHO you don't need to chase around Cameron amps anymore and pay the inflated price tags for them when you can send an 900 dollar JCM800 to Fortin and get the Cali mod for $500. You're at $1400 right there and you get an amp that sounds extremely close to a Cameron Jose. I love the Cameron amps but I'm not spending $2500 for one.

There's also lot's of sounds in the Cali so it's pretty tweakable.

i'd say that everything that tonmazz,Gainfreak, and danyeo just said,SUMS IT ALL UP nicely :)

Once I get my Friedman back from Dave I plan on dropping it by Danyeo's place for him to check out since he also owns a Fortin. I dont have the HBE, but it has/will have the BE/C45/Cantrell mods along with fat/saturation switches. I had a little issue with the 45 whistling when the gain was dimed so I figured I'd get that fixed, and add the JC mod since I had to ship it anyway. Hopefully he can give a better idea of the differences. Shit maybe I should give him a Cameron too.

Lets hope Danyeo Jonus has a cab to use, never know where in the cab ferris wheel he is at

LOL. I have cabs, but I cant use em where I live. Just using my AxeTraks at home, and looking into one of the Jet City Iso Cabs as well. Dont want to upset the nice old lady that lives downstairs :D

Here's an update :D I missed that Handwired bottom soo much i found another, should be here next week. Loaded with the Heritage H30's. And i have an older Mojo 2x12 that i bought from Dave, loaded with 2 Scumback M75's. The scums are really warm and deep sounding. I'm not soo sure they sound just like the old Greenbacks, but they sound really good. I needed a few days with them to tweak the amp on this cab.

Hey Danny,

Have you tried mixing the greenback with the M75 in your 2X12? it's a great combo IMO.

The JC mod sounds interesting....what does it sound like?
according to Dave
"Brown eye circuit is changed some and the Saturation mod is permanently added. Over all I voiced it a little more metal with a deeper bass to it"

I posted a thread similar to this one. I received a lot of great info from RT. I also email both Friedman and Fortin asking for information and prices of their mods. I also asked what amp they needed me to send them to mod. Both were very quick to email me back with all the info. Mr. Fortin is not taking any new amps for mods until June at the earliest.

Now the hard part, me trying to decide what mod to get.
