I picked up this odd duck Gibson today, just over the Michigan/Indiana border from a fella off of Facebook marketplace.
It's a 1980 Gibson KZ II. Made in Kalamazoo. You don't see these around much, I think that's mainly because there weren't many made. All that I have seen, were made in Kalamazoo. Probably a specific model that someone at the Kazoo factory came up with and it didn't quite take off like they had hoped?
It like a DC junior hooked up with a SG!!
Mahogany slab body. 3 piece maple neck. Rosewood fretboard. SG style electronics. Nashville style bridge and stoptail.
Its in great condition for 43 years old....no structural issues.
It has Dirtyfinger pickups! Untouched soldier joints. Basically, factory stock.
Its light as a feather. The neck is a smaller D shape, like SGs from this era. Frets are wide and low.
It plays pretty good, although i would like to see some taller frets on this and then i think it would really blossom!!! The tone is awesome...its a rock machine! The Dirtyfingers sound amazing!!!
