$999 - seems like a good price on the surface
Looks like the replacement for the AX8 is out and it looks pretty badass. Same Ares processing as the Axe-Fx III with a new editor FM3 Edit. Not sure the capacity, doesn’t look as powerful as the axeIII in terms of number of amps and effects but does have the full cabIR palette.

I wonder if there will be a way to copy presets from the AxeIII to the FM3, that would make things easier.

This was announced a while back, still haven't heard a hard release date. I wonder if Fractal is sitting on it out of fear of cannibalizing Axe FX3 sales.

Right, it’s released, now shipping. Fractal has the usual waiting list going though...

They are now being released. Apparently what happened was the first batch came without a headphone jack as shown on the concept unit. From what I gathered, this was what the delays were really about. I believe they are offering those to people on the waitlist for $50 less. Once those are all spoken for, who knows when the next batch will show up. Some people are really wanting that headphone jack and other don’t care and just want one of the units.

I’ve had the Axe III now for more than a year and a half. It really has some staying power for me as far as a modeller. I have a Helix Rack now as well. Really love both units. I still would like to get an amp at some point just to have that real piece to play through when I want to hear that sound.
 
Cool unit. I believe it was mentioned it is no more powerful than the AX8 and may run into the cpu limit capping out quickly when running the hi res reverbs. I never used them on my AX8 and I never had that issue fwiw.
