Fractal experts: FM3 vs. Axe FX III?

So, I travel a LOT with Uncle Sam. Historically, I've used a recording interface (right now, a Focusrite Scarlett 2I2) into plugins, typically Guitar Rig 5, although I've tried some others lately with varying levels of success. To me, all have fallen a little short on the feel front; all seem to have latency that I can't get past, although for the newest plugins I seem to be CPU limited. I've also been trying a BluGuitar Amp1 and some pedals, but this has been sort of unsatisfying as well; don't know that I'm a fan of the Amp1 or not from a sound standpoint.

So, I need something roughly the same size as the Amp1 - maybe a little larger, portable, would want it to take pedals ok as well. I'm very familiar with Fractal stuff; I had one of the original Axe FX 1 Standards, and have an Axe II MKII at home. I'm aware though that with the smaller size (and price) comes probably a reduction in capability. So, my questions:

How does the FM3 feature set compare to the Axe II or III? How is the sound/modelling quality compared to the II/III? Any positive or negative experiences with the FM3?

im glad the fm3 came out. i scored an ax8 on the cheap yesterday.

the fm3 looks too small for live use for me at least and spending $500 more for 6 more switches seems dumb.

For info from somebody that has both units and also gigs, seems like Leon Todd has a wealth of it.

Actually have been watching a few of his videos already, but I'm always wary of "content producers" and who is paying them, directly or indirectly, you know? I know we have some Fractal aficionados here, more than happy to take some tips!

That said, Leon's vids do sound great. :D

The FM3 sounds just like my Axe III but smaller and more portable. It is a step up in tone and feel from the Axe II.

Right on.....I just thought I'd mention LT, because while I don't have an FM3, I do have an AxeIII, and he shares some Awesome presets and info on it.
