I've been experimenting a ton with my tone here lately. I've read about and talked with a few of you guys about KT77s. All of it has me extremely curious as to whether I should do it. I finally found "my tones" in this Dragon and now I'm on the fence about a tube swap. She has SED =C= EL34's. Pardon the quality of the sound, I find that if you pull back the volume on the vid just a hair or listen through some headphones it clears up most of the clipping. Oh and this is the first vid of my recently aquired '95 PRS Custom 22 in Faded Royal Blue. :D

Well you know what I think bro. Not just any old KT77 but the GOLD LION KT77 in the Framus Dragon sounds killer IMO. I loved what it did in the tightness department and the over all focus. Did absolute wonders to the clean channel. More headroom and a fuller more rounded tone/sound. YMMV but it worked great in mine. :D

Sounds nice man! I have a framus dragon too, But I find it way too boomy and fizzy even with the treble practically off. Any tips how to get it sounding less fizzy and tighter? what preamp tubes are in it, and what speaker/cab are you using?

Its got Ruby HG+ in V1 and V2 with the rest as JJ/Chinese. I find myself cranking the treble and presence, but that is more to do with my speaker selection. I run a splawn 4x12 with V30s and K100s in an X. Make sure your FX mix is noon, try re eqing the head all at noon on every channel as well as the global depth and presence controls and take your time. Its relatively sensitive to finding the sweet spots for each channel, but once you do, its a total tonegasm!

KT77's (JJ) or JJ E34L's are nice. I'm liking my standard EL34's though. you can check some of mine out on diesect33 at youtube if you want. they didn't come out great but, yeah i've got some with EL34's and E34L's. i boost the crunch channel mostly.
