Hey guys,

Which speaker combo would work better on Friedman 2x12 Cabinet with my Smallbox? Right now, I´m using the G12M-65, since it is the stock speaker of the combo version and I´m pretty happy with the results. I wonder if anyone had the opportunity to try all of these combinations. 80´s Hard Rock tone is my main target, but I want it to be versatile.
I´ve been thinking of replace my combo with the Head + Cabinet, but I really don´t know if this is the right move. I mean, the combo sounds GREAT and it´s really easy to move.
The Friedman Cabinet would looks great with my amp and I really think it would be a great match, but I´m still considering the 2x12C Stoneage as well. Anyone had the chance to compare both?

Thanks,

Bruno

Hi Bruno,
I use the V30/M65 combo in my 2x12's, sounds great. The M65 is a higher wattage greenback (bit more low end to my ears) so it's similar to the Friedman 4x12 greenback/V30 combination.

I've tried 2 V30s, 2 M65s, V30/M65 and V30/H75 in mine with my Smallbox. So far my favorite is the V30/H75 mix. I love M65s but wanted to try something a little more aggressive sounding than 2 M65s. Mixed with the V30 it seemed like the M65 was overpowered, but the H75 and V30 are great together.

I have heard that the v30 and 75 watt creamback is an amazing combo.

Thank you! Funny that you have mentioned the V30/H75 mix... I thought that this speakers combo would be a little to bright.

I use V30s and H75 Creamback's in my 2 2X12s and they sound great. Not too bright at all.

You can go with a a combo of celestion Creamback M65 and Creamback Celestion H75. besides if your target is 80's rock using 2 celestion Creamback m65 is the way to go

It would be great, but here in my country it would cost me a lot of money to do that kind of experimentation.

V30 and H75... what is more bright? In my 2x12 I'm using a Celestion V30 paired with an Eminence Legend V12. I thinking to swap the Legend with the H75..

The V30 is definitely brighter than the H75. The H75's highs are smoother and not as spikey. It still retains nice tight lows, good mid range chunk and sparkly even highs. It just doesn't hit the same high or mid frequencies that the V30 does. That's why it's a pretty good balance for it.

I've tried the V30/M65 mix, dual V30's, and now am running dual Scumback BM65's in my 212. Great speakers!

I run dual 65's and they sound amazing with the Butterslax I've had in my possession. 80's rock for days all the way up to very heavy stuff. I have 2 matching 2x12's (not Friedman) and just a mcquirwd a V30 and H30 so I may throw those in one of the cabs.
