Been loving this BE-100 Deluxe. I borrowed a friends 1988 JCM800 2203 to see how they stack up. It's tricky to capture the feel & bigness of these amps but they are both monsters. Check it out! ⚡

Nice comparo video! The 800 and a boost can let you do a variety of things if you don't have the $ for a Be 100 deluxe!

Definitely. Tried & true.

Love the Rancid riffage!

The Friedman Amps are definitely killer pieces, I just don't think they're my thing. Too much compression and too smooth/dark for my tastes compared to my 2203 and Splawn QR. I definitely get why they're a huge hit though, and still want to give the BE Deluxe a try. You made it sound great here.

Cool demo/ comp. Love the tones. I think i like the pkexi sound the best, on the BE. The Marshall is IT. Not as versatile but damn. It has crunch and openess.

I am liking my BE less and less lately. Thinking about a Splawn maybe...... A QR.

We ll see.

Great job here man.

Right on! Thanks folks. I know what you mean about the "open-ness" of the Marshall. It was the main reason I picked up a Diezel VH2 a little while back. I wanted something with that impolite punch to it. I had a honeymoon period with the Diezel, but just kept coming back around to the Friedman. I've been playing them since 2013 now, so I think I'm just really used to it and it feels like home. I LOVED the Quickrod when I had one. Seriously one of the best Marshall-esqe distorted amps out there, and you can usually find them relatively cheap. The more amps I try, the more I realize that I can kinda work with whatever. Just subtle shades of grey (some less subtle than others).

Totally agree with this, and something I've really realized in the past year. Once we find "our sound" we end up making every amp sound very similar, to the point where the amp choice isn't as important as we make it out to be.

Thanks for sharing. Also, kudos on the Kvelertak riff, underrated band.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Both killer amps that can be made to do pretty much whatever you want them to do.

Friedman won this for me, by a lot.....but the JCM sounds great, awesome tones for the buck.

I have the JJ100. Played the DLX through a Friedman cab and A/B'd it with my JJ at GC a few weeks ago. It was a really tough decision. I almost walked out with the DLX, but financially, it made more sense to not do that. ...I still get the itch for the DLX. It's a machine. ...But no one can deny the glory of an old 800.

Definitely. I LOVE the JJ100. Honestly, could have been happy with any of the Friedman amps. Just subtle tweaks of an already killer platform. I'd love to try a Friedman 4x12 at some point. I have a Marshall 1960A with Creamback 75's up top and V30s in the bottom and an EVH 4x12 with V30s. Main benefit of those cabs to me that the Friedman doesn't have? Wheels. But I'm sure those Friedman cabs sound luxurious!

How do you like the CB75/V30 mix in that Marshall? I've been thinking of doing that in my Mode Four 4x12.

Sounds great to me, however I'm mainly playing it pretty loud at practices and shows and I generally have ear plugs in, so it's hard to tell the nuances. I think the Creambacks pair really nicely with the V30s though. I used to have Greenbacks and V30s in an X pattern and I definitely prefer the top & bottom setup better.
