This amp has been on my mind a LOT lately. The price tag scares the piss out of me , but the used prices are much more manageable. A few questions for y'all Friedman users : How does it do mid gain? By mid gain I mean , just a bit of hair (ala southern rock). Also , can you foot switch between the BE and HBE channels? Say use one as a rhythm and one as your lead. Last question , I have read that their are different variations of the BE-100 depending on when they were made. Is this true? Thanks folks!

Yes the BE can do mid gain wonderfully. Yes you can switch between be and hbe ala foot switch.yes there are a few revisions. I have the latest, and I have never been more satisfied with an amp.

Do the BE and HBE channels share a gain control?
Yes, the gain control is shared.
The Hbe adds a gain stage

FYI - version 1 of the BE100 (the one I have) has a 'simple clean' channel & also 2 inputs (BE & HBE).
Version 2 has 1 input & the footswitchable BE & HBE channels as described above

Also worth noting that there have been a few revisions to this amp. You can probably save a couple of bucks getting an older revision. I just sold mine and had to drop the price because it wasn't the latest and greatest anymore..

Yep. I just sold a mint BE100 with the tube-buffered loop for $2,850 all-in. I bet a new version with slightly different carrying handle would also cause a panic among those with the "older" version. :)

I wonder how many changes, if any, production amps go through during their life cycle...I'd imagine something would have to change on say, JVM410s or 6505s or whatever.
