I received my brand new 2017 Friedman BE100 a couple weeks ago and am loving it. I know it's been said a lot before but it's possibly the best amp I have ever owned. Love it.

I have a question regarding the clean channel. Is it normal for the Bass and Treble knobs for the clean channel to sort of act like volume knobs?? For example, when I crank the treble knob to 10, it's like turning the volume down to 0. With the treble knob actually at 0 it does nothing. The bass knob at 10 just increases volume. At 0 the bass knob lowers the volume to whisper levels. Neither of the knobs seem to add treble or bass. It just changes the volume of the clean channel. Is this by design or do I have a clean channel that's possibly wired wrong?? Thankfully, with both the bass and treble at 12 o'clock I have a great clean sound. :)

Mine does the same thing, its a 2016 (recent version) bought from sweet water this year

I have an earlier version BE100 with the single knob clean. Bass and treble control were later added and are located on the rear.
I do not get any change in volume, but the two controls do exactly what you'd expect...giving me a beautiful, full clean with any amount of treble or bass I desire.

My 2014 doesn't change in volume either! Maybe give the friedman team a call.

Given that jharpersj above does the same thing it may be something in the design. Hopefully Dave can chime in. If I don't hear from him in the next day or so I will probably call them.

Definitely not a design thing. What would be the purpose? Plus, the majority have amps that function correctly.

More likely a flaw on a few amps.

Maybe not. But it does sound excellent with the treble and bass controls at 12 o'clock.

Hey man. Just wanted to let you know that I received your PM but I can't respond because I have not been authorized to use the feature. According to the policies here, I need to participate more! :gethim:

I'll be sure and keep everyone posted if I have to call Dave and team.

Speaking with Dave and we have sorted out the issue. It was a wiring placement thing from the clean channels EQ control to the board. I shifted the wiring around as per Dave's instructions, and the treble and bass knobs are now functioning as they should. :)

jharpersj, I suggest you reach out to Dave (friedmanamps@gmail.com). Dave was super nice and helpful! If it's the same fix that I had to do, it's pretty easy if you are able to resolder. Your issue may be caused by something else, but highly unlikely!

Good luck!

Awesome man! It is a nice consistent pattern I have seen that whenever anyone seems to have an issue and they contact Dave, they always say how helpful and nice he is. I am a HUGE freak for customer service, no matter how low or high the price point of a piece of gear and seems Dave is aces.
