I am just trying to get some info about the character of the amps, regardless of price. Certainly the prices are signifcantly different. Probably why I have a QR and not a BE 100 yet...
I have owned a Splawn Competition, Splawn Modded Marshall, and a Friedman Modded Marshall.
There were things about all of them that I liked but like others mentioned in the post, they are definitely different amps. To me, the Splawn amps do a great early Van Halen (among other things) and there is a real focus on hearing each note. The Friedman in my opinion has a great 80's metal tone (and can do other things obviously). The Splawn has a great tone but not as harmonic and oversaturated sounding as the Friedman if that makes any sense.
It is so hard to define the differences with these because it is a "feel" and hard to put into words. The Splawn is more "stiff" but not necessarily a bad thing. I still love the Cameron amps more than either one and if you have the money I recommend getting one (if you can find one). No amp excited me more than that one. The tone is just phenomenal and I've never played another amp to this day that fit my tone chasing like that one.
