Friedman EVH100 Edward Van Halen Signature Amp

The odds of this ever happening are probably never........... Eddie is banking with is own EVH brand right now but can you imagine the potential this amp could have as long as he stuck to his vintage tone? I think Dave would probably be pulling his hair out working with Ed but it would be quite the experience.

I'm afraid that Ed most likely would probably want another highly complicated 3 channel "too much" gain monster. Ed has stated many times in the past that his methodology has been "less is more" but he doesn't seem to apply that to his amps in the last 18 years due to marketing demands I'm sure.

If I was dreaming, I'm guessing his basis for a lead tone would either be the HBE or a tweaked BE channel for more gain. I don't see him going for a fixed diode SAT but he very well could.

Has Ed ever played any of Friedman's current line or maybe a Marsha in the past? I would think he'd be over the moon if he did. I've been through a large army of amps over the years and Bogner has been my main stay for quite some time but in the past year when I tried my first Friedman, I was astounded. Its just in my wheel house of tone and a overall amp.

I think the marketing people push the 3 channel thing at Ed...he only uses the blue channel. The amp needs to appeal to more people than just Ed heads.

He's on the RED channel all the time, much to my chagrin.

As arthritis/tendonitis has set in, he just prefers the ease of the higher-gain setup.

I think it would be similar to all the other EVH amps in that, it would be a nice amp that doesn't sound 'like EVH' but just has the EVH name associated with it. To me all these EVH amps are just amps that would have been built anyway (and named something else) but they stuck an EVH badge on it so it would sell more. Nothing wrong with that imo but it is what it is.

My BE100 (four switch/version) with the "Voice Switch" On with lower output pickup around 9.4k (also the overall amp settings & guitar) sounds remarkably dead on to EVH (Ed's early days, Engineered and Produced recorded tone but Raw!) Eddie made some amp/pups/guitar changes to higher output pups around 10.7k (Wolfgang PU) more "processed" during the Hagar era. (Marshall, Peavey & Soldano SLO). I do like Eddie's early VH to Fair Warning guitar tones the most but you can also hear the changes, and of course the VH "Technique & Flair".

Valid idea you have. I am not sure about the 5153, no disrespect to those that love them. I couldnt warm up to it after a few attempts. 2x12 combo 100s head. It never had the marshall vibe when i tried it. I seem to hear more of that in any VH vs fender or peavey. Then there is the ongoing soldano thread ive seen..pretty interesting..i read years ago Ed said he did things to keep people guessing as he didnt want anyone coping his tones. Magazine could be bs. It was in reference to single coil in his guitar. But to no surprise. As u mentioned.. would anyone be surprised. I wouldnt ,hes a killer player so it may not matter with his fingers but i dont hear fender and im sure i will get the adage tone is in your fingers.. i love this one. So what is an overdriven amp if tone is in your fingers. Or a phase 90 or flanger or delay etc. I say style is in your fingers and the amp.you choose to bridge this style to rhe human ear has ro be correct or maybe Ed would have destroyed all guitarists with a fender quad reverb( non disrespect to those 12sthat play em. Its only a reference). Would love to see a friedman EVH. Then again maybe we have one but it aint going public as mentiond. Lol
