Had some eBay bucks to burn and found a good deal on a Friedman Golden Pearl on ebay. Should be here tomorrow.

Anyone have experience using this pedal as a TS-style boost in front of a high gainer? That'a really the only way I'd use it. Figured I'd give it a shot, and if I didn't dig it, could sell it for what I paid in Ebay bucks and have the cash.

Nothing has dethroned my MXR M77 OD in the last 6 years, so I'm guessing the Friedman probably won't either.

I came this close ->| |<- to buying one of those. I love a low gain pedal top push the front end of an amp. I have a Walrus Audio Messner and that thing is my always on pedal, love it. I wanted to try the Friedman but ended up going with the Mythos Mjornir instead.

Looking forward to your take on it. I still may get one.

Kinda tame for a Friedman product. Wonder why they didn't go with Golden Shower?

I went back and forth between the GP and the Buxom boost pedal at the local shop in front of a DS mini. To me the GP seems more of what I pictured the BEOD would be like. I took home the Buxom boost, I liked the way it could tighten up and really shape your sound.

I would go with "Pissflaps"

I dig the Golden Pearl a lot. I shot this video for a retailer recently and really got a kick out of it. You can hear it in some more extreme settings later in the video. Both the GP and the Buxom Boost are killer. Super versatile pedals.
