Hey all, just spent about 45 mins with the new JEL. The forums are full of words describing tone, I like to hear with my own ears :rawk !
context: I've owned and gigged with the BE deluxe (twice) Smallbox (3x) Phil, JJ 100w and Jr, reg PT and still own the V2
Just comparing the JEL 100w to the 20w plexi side
The 20w is spongier and more vintage but gets so mean it loves humbuckers -100w not sure how diff the voicing is or if I was not tapping into the volume needed but that's very doubtful
The 100w ch 2 was meh -for me. This one is great for solos but still need to dial it in more
Compared to V2 Taco The JEL plexi is more vintage and not quite as raw but still has plenty of mids and is super pleasing to the ears! I make more comments in the video, cheers!

Enjoyed that, thanks for posting. Agree about using IR’s etc. thanks for posting in room clip.

FYI for those like me that were curious if the JEL-20 would be available in a 1X12 combo I reached out to Dave directly and he said that it would not be because it wouldn’t sound as good. Head and cab in my future it looks like. Loving this real world iPhone video. Curious to see your live clips with your band too.

That's what I should title it 'Real world live video' ! :geek:

I think I liked the PT better but IMO the quality of sound of this video wasn't as good as your others. Sounded more muffled than usual.
I had the aC unit on and the ngle of the camera may have caused that. I literally spend what little time I have doing these vids but thanks for the feedback. Regarding the PT sounding better if your a metal guy -for sure. It's also more of a plug n play amp. The PT is
Tighter / Raw and more aggressive for sure :m17:

By how many times he's owned and sold the same amps. The posting is an attempt at humor.
Maybe for you, others and myself seem to enjoy hearing new things! Glad I made you chuckle

The JEL sounded more raw to me but not sure why. Just sounds like with some adjusting, 8t would be the heavier sounding amp.

No worries -I've done the same thing but it's been Rectifiers and Marshalls ! Seems like when I've sold them I miss them a few months later.

Great vid! Shows the amp, in a room thru a great cab.
I just got mine today. Played it about an hour to make sure everything worked. Used my Monterey Strat w/ DiMarzio Area pu's.
I sold my Marshall 1987x last year (moving) and this JEL seems to have some of that rawness, slightly refined. The Plexi channel is great and I could have spent the whole hour just on this channel. Tried an SD-1, Dualist, JHS Overdrive/ Preamp pedal.
The Gain channel also ripped. I used the ODs on that as well. The Loop works great. I liked the Sat switch alot w/ the Strat alot.
