Friedman Marsha vs PT100

I have officially decided that my next amp is between these two. I really love everything about each one and all the clips have been amazing to hear. I just have no clue which would be the better choice.

I love how the PT100 has everything you need, great cleans and marshall type dirty tones. I wouldnt need another amp in my rig and no more overdrive pedals. Then theres the Friedman Marsha! It's the hot rodded marshall tones we all want and love. With the simple clean or clean channel added to the back you could proabaly get some of the same tones from both amps.

I might be completely wrong here but I dont consider the marsha to be very compressed at all based on the clips from James Lugo's amp shootout(correct me if im wrong). To me BE and HBE are thick, loose, and saturated perfectly and that is what I want. I wonder if the feedback control on the PT100 will get the same type looseness I am talking about?

I have played Pete Thorn's PT100 and it was great to finally hear the amp in person. I didnt get to mess around with the knobs to really test it out so thats what I really know of the amp personally.

I want an amp that will last me a lifetime and be a main amp in a future live rig, and wanting to be in the ballpark of Jerry Cantrell,Pete Thorn, and Slash. (YES THATS A HUGE BALLPARK!)

I feel like it is gonna be a toss up between the two. I'd be happy with either one.

any comments would be great!

If I only knew how crazy I would become because of gear....:)

Comes down to your personal taste they are both top notch amps. I bought a Marsha because I prefer THAT tone, It will do any Classic Marshall tone you can think of and then some, it has gobs of gain on tap, the clean on the rear is phenominal and not discussed nearly enough. I went with a full house of options which I would recommend for versatility sake, BE, HBE, Sat, Fat, C45, loop and second master volume.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "loose"...I think you're using the term differently than I would. I would describe my Marsha (and the one in Lugo's shootout) as anything but loose...the bottom end remains tight and punchy throughout the eq's range.
If you're talking about the amps "old school Marshall" feel and response that lacks the immediacy and stiffness of something like a VHT UL, then I get it.
I've never played the PT100 but I felt that the OD100SE was fairly stiff when I tried one...your chops had better be spot on for an amp like that.

Now I get it. I wasnt using the right words there. so to me the Marsha wasnt as compressed and stiff as the PT100 might be. I have a 5150III and it is very compressed and stiff on channel 2 and I don't want that at all.

I can't believe you're considering these two...they are great amps, but do you really need them right now?

Anyways...

+1 for the Marsha

you sir are about about to start a riot! how dare you pit rig talk high priests of amps!  consider your pm box flooded.

haha I really hope not! these are two of the best amps in the market. both get a lot of respect but I am just trying to figure out which is best for me.

If it's the "amp for a lifetime"  , sorry this is Rig-talk after all, considering how much each amp costs I would find out where I can demo both at length and buy a plane/bus ticket to go to that place (most likely L.A). One day could do it. Fly in morning, leave at night or stay the night and eat healthy with Lugo for Dinner :D
