I love the sound of channel one (plexi channel) with gain on ten, but I also need a very clean sound for some of the covers my band plays. My band covers everything from Sade to Alice In Chains.

I dropped of the Small Box with Dave today to install a basic clean channel, like the one in the Runt 20.

Now I will be able to set the plexi channel for crunch tones and have the BE channel for heavy rhythms and leads.

Can’t wait to get it back!!!

Sounds cool, loved the smallbox. Interested to hear how it turns out.

If Dave came out with an amp that was just channel one of the Smallbox...it'd be a hit. What a great great guitar sound.

I am contemplating getting my Smallbox channel two modded to SS100 channel two spec. I wish I knew what the differences were to have it done locally...

yes and then someone would still buy it and ask Dave to mod it like many ppl still do. poor Dave
hey Dave i love my amp but could you built a 2nd channel and 3 loops and midi while we're at it?

People tastes change...thank god guys like Dave are around.

I don't get it because the Smallbox plexi cleans are beautiful and only takes a little roll off of the guitar's volume. I'm not sure why you'd need another clean channel. You might as well have gotten the Steve Stevens model or something. Have you heard the cleans on it? It's damned near perfection.

The plexi channel with the gain on ten is amazing for a crunch sound. Rolling the volume down with the gain on ten, will not clean up enough for some of the covers I am playing with my band. When the mod is done, I will have a clean, crunch, and lead channels.

I don't know man. The Smallbox is awesome as a 2-channel amp. You'd probably be better off with a 3 channel amp. What kind of gigs are you playing that you have to crank the Smallbox so loud that you can't get a clean tone from the clean channel?

I have had many three channel amps, Mark III, Mark IV, Mark V, Shiva, Triaxis, 5150, etc

The Small Box is the best sounding amp I have ever played. Once Dave does his magic, it will be perfect for my needs.

I might not go that far but I wholeheartedly agree that it's as amazing as you think it is. It would have been interesting if you had Dave do more of a Buxom Betty or Steve Steven's kind of clean channel. I don't know if the Buxom Betty is a clean amp, never played one, but the clean sounds I have heard from it are very sexy. The Steve Stevens has an elite clean channel. Anyway please link some audio once you get it back because I'd look forward to hearing some of Dave's magic.

I call dibs when it hits the classifieds! Seriously tho I've sold 2 SB50's and sold because of this. The plexi channel set clean is really nice but it's not the same. Had too much of it's own character (which isn't a bad thing). I always wanted a more neutral clean for pedals, especially compressors. I live across the country so I don't have the liberty of dropping it off so it sounds like it's 6-12+ months wait for folks like me. Anywho I hope you post clips!

I agree, but I also did not want to sacrifice the plexi channel's full potential with it's gain set at 10. For me, that is were it really shines. Having a basic clean allows me to set the plexi channel how I like it, (gain at 10). I use to have a Runt 20 with a basic clean channel, It worked great for songs that need a very clean sound and it took pedals well.
