Friedman Smallbox continues to amaze!

Put JJ KT77's in it last week, and it sounds killer. I went with a Tungsol in V1 & V2, and a Sovtek LPS in V3.

Today, I took it to my brother's and plugged into his EVH 4x12, and really got to open it up. Jumpin' Jesus it sounded incredible. I only use the BE channel, and hit it with an MXR Custom Badass OD, (so far it's beat out my VFE Dragon and Buxom Boost - the Dragon sold on Reverb, and the Buxom is for sale), and used my Schecter SLS Elite with the Fishman Fluence Moderns. Absolutely crushing tone. I f'ing love this amp! ?

Hows the master volume? Ive heard by 1.5 its loud as s$&t.

It can be, but a volume pedal works great. I crank it to about 4 and no problem.

I had the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe pedal... I sold it because the FM3 Friedman amp/cab sounds as good, so no need for the pedal. However, that pedal was one of the best 'amp sounding' pedals I had and sounding great with just about any clean channel I put it through. It worked with gainy channels, but you had to keep both pedal and amp gains within reason.

Russian tube in cathode follower position. They don’t tolerate high voltages like a Chinese. This is what he was referring to.

I know the Runt 50 I bought new had all EH - Power and preamp.

Smallbox is an awesome amp. Just picked up a used newer version BE100 w the structure switch. It really is the best amp Ive ever owned. Just sounds fantastic. And I know Dave F support is there if needed.

I believe EHX for preamps currently.

Dave said that’s what they were using. Maybe the EHX tolerate the v2 position better.
