Thinking of giving up one of my OS 2x12 Bogners & going for a front loaded for one of them.

Mills Acoustics 212's are the shiznit! Best 212 I've ever played through

VHT fatbottom and Carvin Legacy....maybe Diezel as well.

avatar also has front loaded 2x12s.

not super booteek, but i dig mine.

I had this one. (In snakeskin) It was nice :)

I've got a brand new OS Grille in wheat with the Bogner Logo if anyone is interested $100.00. Original Bogner equipment.

I know this has been beaten to death but what are the general sonic differences between front and rear loaded cabs?

Are those front loaded?
Pretty sure stock they're rear-loaded. But I believe they can customize per customer's request. Not 100% sure though

Front loaded cabs have a tighter response and the speakers don't color the sound as much. I've heard certain speakers in these cabs can sound brighter and more harsh in the upper mids. I probably wouldn't put V30's for example in a FL cab.

My G-Flex cab is front loaded and I'm using Hellatone 30/60 speakers.

Sounds great!!

:)

I've been more than happy with my custom Earcandy Buzzbomb cab, loaded with Avatar Hellatone 60L speakers.

Yeah they're usually tighter but the speakers color the sound more in a front load IMO. Because of the front load design, they don't drive the baffle as hard so you hear more of the naked speaker vs. the cab resonance of a rear load.

I have two Legacys - one is stock (front loaded)
The other I easily tweaked into rear loaded.
The front loaded (V30's) is tight and small - in half back mode it grows bigger. Put Greenbacks in it - that was nice but went back to V30's.
The rear loaded (V30's) sealed is woody and in half back kinda combo sounding.
I was going to sell them after getting the THD 2x12 - but after spending some time with all three - I will keep them all.
The front loaded Legacy records so well - very transparent - not much cab sound at all.
The other two the cab sound ends up on tape - yes I still run tape :)

i have the traditional one, and it's front loaded. i don't know about the vintage or the contemporary. quick phone call could clear it all up.

Mill's aren't front loaded.

If I am not mistaken, Custom Audio makes a front loaded/ported 2x12. You can order empty cabs from them with the wiring harness and wiring. Install your own speakers. Hit Ed or John up down in the Suhr section, or give them a jingle. Rob at Tone Merchants can get CAA stuff quick.

Although not front loaded, check out Mesa's 2x12 vertical Recto cabs.

My lil' Zinky 2x12 is front loaded.

It is scary good toanz, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Metal...

I seem to remember the ENGL-cabs also being front-loaded, but that might just be the 4x12s

You could get Diezel 2x12 both front and rear loaded.

Have this guy build you a custom cab to your specs for FAR less than most.

I got a quote for a slant 2x12 in custom dimensions ,convertible back, NO Handle cutouts and custom tolex, grill cloth, piping to match my PORT city 2x12 OS, for $160 unloaded.

His unloaded price list:

Cab Price Dimensions

1X15 94.80 18.5X18.5X14
2X10 114.80 27.5X14.875X17
2X12 114.80 27.5X14.875X14
