Frustration with sellers on ebay and reverb. AND a question?

I dont buy alot, and it just seems to get worse when I do. These are the last 4 purchases. I have literally had no good transaction on either site in months

1. I bought 500k pots on reverb, (4) for $20 to upgrade my LP studio. The seller advertised them as authentic Gibson 500k. They arrive and are all 300k and part number confirms that they are 300k spec. While he offer for me to return them on my dime, he is still to this day selling them as 500k on reverb even after I showed the part numbers for the 500k vs 300k

2. When I bought my Runt new on reverb (from a store in GA, NOT AN INDIVIDUAL) the seller gave me a sob story that he couldn't ship due a family emergency. eventually 2 weeks later I get an amp directly shipped from Friedman. I'm not stupid, and looking at this feedback, it was clear that he was able to ship, because 6 items sold and were shipped, received, and feedback given during the whole time of me given excuses.

3. Just bought some thornbuckers on Reverb only for another store to come back and tell me sorry, we our out of stock, do you want to wait 2 weeks? Again, if this is the case, why are you still selling them still at this moment as if you have them in stock, WTF? Refund given

4. Because the seller was out on reverb, decided to try my luck on ebay and bought some thornbuckers there. I get a shipping notification last week that they are prepared for pickup via USPS priority shipping. Keep in mind these are coming from the same time zone and should have been here monday at the latest. Looking at tracking, it shows that information was received by the shipper but that the carrier has not yet received them. The seller said that likely USPS didn't scan them. Well, I've seen that happen, but not everry scan. They have multiple opportunities to scan an usually get scanned at some point during the trip. That being said, they should have been here foing by the published USPS priority shipping schedule.

How long should I wait to ask for a refund?

Bummer man sorry to hear.

There is nothing I hate more than having an item marked as "shipped" when it's only a shipping label created.

From my experiences with eBay, request your refunds ASAP. You'll have to open a case, wait a couple weeks then escalate your case and then wait some more. Takes forever.

I think there's a time period before you can even open a case so do it now and eBay will tell you if you can or if you have to wait.

That's not the seller's fault. I work from home on EST, though I live in AZ, and can't leave the house until about 3pm to run errands. But I prepare packages and shipping labels all the time in the morning. Not my fault FedEx sends an email to the buyer or that the tracking number shows "shipped" as soon as I print the label out. I always make sure I get it dropped off and scanned in on the same day, but there's often several hours in between.

Understandable not to expect it to get to the carrier until the next day even, but 5 days makes me "concerned"

And beware of this one. I often choose "US only" when shopping on eBay, so the shipping times will be shorter. I did it a few weeks ago for some weight lifting gloves. Est. shipping time was six weeks, which means they're coming from China, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid. WTF is a seller allowed to lie about their location?

I've had scammers do just what you've described in #4...they create a shipping label, but never deliver the product. then several days later, here you are...no product, no affirmation of routing by the carrier, and your money sent to the seller.

Not saying that is the situation here, but i agree...5 days is, at a minimum is unusually long to be in the same time zone, at the worst, a scam. I'd ask for my $$ back, open a case of Woop-ass against them.

In my particular situation, once i opened a case in EBay, they seller admitted the product hadn't shipped out...in error of course. But they agreed to ship it that day. I asked politely for them to cram it, and refund my damn money at once. They did, and i moved on...

I dont think it's a scam. the seller has almost 20,000 sales. I think the most likely scenario is that because of the volume, they screwed up, or they were out of stock and are stalling until they get them in stock. I have been seeing this as a trend that sellers often time list stuff they dont have hoping it comes in in time or they drop ship. The bottom line, is I just want a transaction without drama or excuses which is becoming the exception.

When you see an eBay seller with a feedback rating in the six figures or more, it's a safe bet they're pretty busy and you may not get personal service from them. Some of the sellers I've seen conduct so much business, it has to be automated and drop shipped. And just dealing with the questions, complaints and returns could be a full time job for several people. HTF do people have a rating of over one million? That's just nuts.

So, vendor wants me to wait another day still even though USPS has never received the item from the vendor. He tells me he will ship another set tomorrow if they don't come in, but his website as well as ebay and reverb accounts show the item is out of stock. I am convinced they never had them and they are trying to stall. Nobody has had them in stock in a few weeks.

I understand your feelings. I have actually written a post (last night actually) similar to yours detailing 4 things that happened to me, but ended up just not posting it. 3 of these were reputable companies that all of us here know and love. But then all of a sudden for no particular reason, last night I got an email with tracking information 18 days after I ordered one item and received an email from the 2nd company saying they just screwed up and will get it taken care of asap and should have in a few days and I had a delivery from the 3rd company. But it's been frustrating and I'm still working on a dead-on-arrival item from company #3 from several weeks ago.

I'm pretty patient and understand delays and crap happens, but I was getting pretty pissed that I was quick and easy to pay and then just nothing. I just ask for communication at least so I'm not eagerly checking the mail for deliveries. What can we do except this...

Bummer, makes it tough on good sellers when thisxstuff happens
