Just to let y'all know, she's ordered, going to be the horsepower behind my recently ordered Mak 4. Because of my request, one of my main guys just managed to become the 'area' supplier for Fryette as of today - and whaddya know? I'm their first Fryette customer.

Stoked :D

Looking forward to hearing/experiencing how a quad of KT88's feels and plays with the Mak 4 driving it. Rack, Mak 4, Fryette 2:90:2 power amp, power distributor/conditioner, and some extra space for 'stuff' on the bottom. Cabs? Either a Mills AB4x12 (stereo wired) or two Mills 2x12's - G12K100's with V30's.

Peace,
V.

cant wait for some clips
Ya, I can't wait either, but as you probably know, the Mak 4 is a 2 month long shot. So any of this won't really be materializing till, what, Christmas or so?? Who knows - at least I know the wheels are in motion... I've got to make a decision on speakers/cabs too, as Mills has the same 8 to 10 week wait. But worst case scenario, I can run it through one of my current 4x12's in the meantime to get a sense of what it's all about.

Honestly, I'm less excited about the actual 'gear' than I am the concept of all the tones I'll be able to conjure with a 4 channel, unique pre and KT88's. The Fryette is a monster - it'll be interesting to hear what it's really all about. I'm guessing it's going to be a unique sound for sure. And that's exactly what I was hoping for :D

I had the privilege of testing that same combination (into two Mill's cabs) at Matt's house and it was head and shoulders (IMO) above the following:

Bogner Uberschall
Diezel Herbert
ENGL SE
Axe-fx Ultra w/ QSC GX5
Axe-fx Ultra w/ Art SLA-2

The Dorado channel and the VHT 2/90/2 is an awesome combination.

WOW!!!! That's quite the list to be, um, "head and shoulders" above!!

As I am looking into the Mills cabs as well, can I ask what your friend (Matt) had his loaded with? Is he a forumite here on RT? Would love to pick his brain - especially if he was running the newer Fryette KT88 powered 2/90/2.

I'm not so impressed with superceding the Axe-FX gizmos, they're not my schtick - and Engl...? Meh. But to say it slays a Herbert and an Uberschall, WHOA!!!! Now the excitement has really started to creep in :D

This is Matt... he's a freaking cool cat!!! They had another ampfest last weekend but I couldn't go because I had babysitting duties while my wife went out and about... I really wish I could have gone because there were some really cool amps that I wanted to test side-by-side with my Axe-fx/Peavey 1500 setup...

Thanks Guys!!

Ah yes, THAT Matt... We've chatted already :D

Cool cat indeed.

As for everything else, I am super stoked. Seems Andrew thinks the way to go with drivers is V30's. I guess we're in business. Pics and clips once I get this thing and understand the whole rig. But don't hold yer breath, we're probably talking the new year.

And FWIW, I had some questions regarding poweramps when I was searching around - Fryette (Steve) was ON IT immediately with all my questions and queries. I like that - makes me feel as though if something goes sideways, the company's got my back. For me, that's critical. And in this whole process - I've had direct communications with Andrew (Mako) at LENGTH; Steve Fryette, and Dave at Mills Acoustics. Call me old fashioned but customer service is what's sold me on all three of the above.

Outte here for the day - enjoy your Friday folks!!
