Having never played either I’m in the market for one. Curious to hear opinions of one versus the other since there really isn’t any quality video footage to compare them out there. Which one is better for a metal player? Cheers!

Either will do it, but the UL is the best for metal. I've had mine since it was about brand new...but I definitely prefer the MTLs. The UL has a lot of the qualities I love about Wizard. Wizard just takes it up a notch.

Ultralead for me. Deliverance needed extra shit to get it where I wanted it.
But everyone has different opinions.
The UL will lay all your weakness out there for everyone to hear...but if you're on it,it will make you grin like a mofo.
It makes you keep your pimp hand strong,or you will suck it.
The Deliverance if a lot more forgiving.

Agree . Though I want a UL MK 2 someday

What kind of music do you play ? Modern metal ? Old school ?

I've had the pitbull, the UL, and a deliverance. I still have the deliverance and always will if that tells you anything. I'd take a 5150 over the UL or pitbull for straight up modern metal.

I seem to remember reading Fryette was reworking the UL. Is that true??

I'll be the odd man out and say i preferred the deliverance. Still have it in fact. Loved my UL but i find the deliverance to be my favorite VHT/Fryette for any genre.
It seems Deliverance is more popular with modern metal people. I see that a lot .

Tonewise UL, GP3, D60/D120, Sig:X, GP/DI are all pretty similar. D120, GP3 and UL could be equally "unforgiving", GP3 and UL with graphic EQ andor Sig:X were more versatile, D60 seemed a tad more raw and the really major difference will be how you're handling the amp, imo. I've played a Deliverance with FX Loop and 2nd master volume for years and it was the perfect simple amp that went from 'clean to mean' through the guitar's volume control and when I needed more versatility with switchable EQ, voicings, channel switching etc. I used the GP3 or Sig:X/UL. Then I've used a GP/DI into a PS-100 for some time. You would be well off with either choice.

I think the wizard lineup may just be impossible to beat.

Mostly death metal. Some old school, some new. Definitely about keeping a mean right hand!

Deliverance all the way... I ve had all Pittbull versions and both the D60/ D120. In my opinion, the Deliverance is juicier and tighter. It does the "from clean to mean" thing...

The wizard might very well be king . It and Hermanson get my use the most

I see death metal guy prefer Deliverance more it seems .

I'd the MTL for a while and really didn't like it, tbh. Gain structure was too muddy/compressed for my liking.
I find it extremely tight and agressive with my settings . I can’t choose between it and Hermanson as the best thing ever lol . But ya I don’t have those problem at all

i would really like to date an MTL.. but it seems like prices on the second hand market has been soaring up... not unusual thou am looking either a 2017 0r 2016 era MTL soon... and sorry for shifting quite abit here... i have a D120 and Pittbull.. in my honesty the Pittbull speaks to me more... the D120 has abit more sag classic its meant for saturation where the flagship Pittbull CLX and UL tries not to get saturated no matter how you dial... the CL is another beast... its green channel is to die for !! i find everything is just right its not ultra tight its sweet and its clear dynamic in the most user way.....
