SOLD: Dragonfly Border Custom 666 (Kurokaki Top)

DESCRIPTION:
For those who are unaware, Dragonfly is a brand that has been around since 1999 under parent company Harry’s Engineering. They have next-to-no exposure outside of Japan, despite making incredibly spec-ed instruments that cater to modern players who want something sophisticated and contemporary while not straying too far away from the path of tradition in terms of guitar design.

Specs:
• Top wood: kurokaki
• Body wood: mahogany
• Body finish: gloss
• Scale length: 666mm (26.2”)
• Neck construction: bolt-on
• Neck wood: 6-piece neck comprised of maple (3), a walnut stripe (1), and walnut stringers (2)
• Neck finish: satin/matte
• Neck profile: thin U
• Fretboard wood: pau ferro
• Fretboard radius: 300mm (11.8")
• Fret number: 24
• Fretwire: Dragonfly’s proprietary, cryogenically treated Hybrid-2 #214SUS stainless steel fretwire
• Pickups: Dragonfly dfh-5B (bridge) and Dragonfly dfh-5N (neck)
• Controls: 3-way toggle pickup selector, volume knob, hi-low pass control knob, and two mini toggle switches for coil-tapping the pickups
• Bridge: Gotoh Tune-O-Matic with stop tailpiece
• Tuners: Gotoh Magnum Lock-Trad

With this Border, you’ve got a 666mm scale length (a scale length commonly used in classical guitar design a long time ago) which better facilitates downtuning. Toss in Dragonfly’s own in-house, hotter output pickups, and you’ve got one loud, powerful yet comfortable riff machine.

Every aspect of this guitar absolutely oozes Japanese craftsmanship from the incredibly skilled team at Harry's Engineering. The immensely high quality is irrefutable and ought to set a new bar for other Japanese guitar manufacturers.

Regarding the top wood: kurokaki is a breed of black persimmon that is native to only Japan. Due to its highly contrasting streaking and colorful aesthetic, it is used in many traditional Japanese artisan crafts such as: sword and knife handles, tea cups, tea caddies, gosu bowls, decorative boxes, wooden jewelry, and more.

This build cost roughly $2,600-$2,800 USD (converted from JPY) to commission directly from Harry’s Engineering. However, due to the Dragonfly brand not having much exposure outside of Japan, I am asking a mere $2,000 OBO + shipping.
