Holy fuck that Roy Clark video!!
Nothing else much to say.

Years ago a buddy gave me a Roy Clark instructional video. I had given him a Paul Gilbert vid to borrow, and he gave me this..I thought it was a joke.

Roy Clark ain't no joke. Hee Haw this Mfers. Amazing musician.

I actually saw him live. Think I was like 7.
Him and Buck Owens. Grandpa jones too.
It was awesome from what I remember.

I was a teen, about 14, and my Dad was a bit of a country fan, I was a straight up metal head. He had tickets, front row to see Roy Clark, 1984. I would rather swallow bleach than go to that show, so I thought. My dad insisted I would have a good time, and ended up with no choice. 5 mins in, am in awe. Rips on guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and can sing well on top of it. I mean he straight up killed it on guitar. I was blown away. But, I am a smart ass teenager, and yell out play Judas Priest. He looked right at me, laughed, and did an entire medley of old Priest. Breaking the Law, Living after Midnight, Hell bent for leather. On a Gibson 175, with his own flare. Holy crap. Then went right back to his regular set, not missing a beat. He is hilarious too. He is one of my favorites, and impressed a snot nosed metal head, just because he could. Clas act all the way.

Fucking awesome.

There are a lot of country guys who are just Monster players. Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Albert Lee, Danny Gatton, etc.

I can't stand those old country songs, but I really enjoy listening to the guitar work on them.

For years I just saw Glen Campbell as a country/pop singer and had no idea he could rip on guitar. It was only in the last 10-15 years that I started seeing footage of him just ripping it up and being a total Shredder.

Roy Clark is brilliant. Totally amazing. These videos will have me going down Roy videos all day now but he's just great.
