The PQ4 is my secret weapon...I absolutely love it. Would love to see everyone's preferred settings! Here are mine:

I’m so surprised nobody made a clone of this EQ.
Agreed. Just as surprised they didn’t make one of the TC 1140 either. If the Empress PQ was a copy of either then it was a pretty bad copy lol

Further, why not that AND a clipper ala guitar focused overdrive mods? This just got me thinking about buying a parametric to mod.

Considering that many guitarists can't even figure out LPF/HPF filters on some pedals, probably not that many of them can figure out how to use a full-on parametric EQ.

Not much demand in the recording world either since people just use EQ plugins.

Man those things do really help the sound. I remember seeing 36CF & The Guitar Player Steve Holt used one. I remember having a conversation about it with him & he turned his off & his entire tone changed, he turned it back on & it was glorious.

I suspect they would have to charge too much compared to the market demand, unless it was made in China. And then would people still want it/would it sound as good?

Regarding settings, I'm not familiar with the Furman but I do have a TC 1140. It looks like you are boosting 4 different frequencies but I cant read the frequencies.

I have my TC set very conservatively and I'm cutting a frequency or two. To find a good starting point for which freq to cut, I start by turning the level up and then finding a frequency that makes it sound the worst, then I try cutting that freq a little.

The comment above about guitar players not knowing how to use one certainly applies to me. What are good tips for setting PEQs?

I thought I read a thread here where Dave Friedman was going to try and clone it?
Maybe the key ingredients aren’t made anymore
That’s what I would’ve thought. I’d imagine a reissued would compare the way the JP2C’s compared to the real deal, but maybe/hopefully I’m wrong

i had a pq3 i used to use in my loop that got lost or stolen at a gig years ago. i now use a Ashly PQ16

That’s pretty much what I did...all by ear lol. I am not cutting any frequencies like you noticed either. I use it in the loop and it really brings my rig to life.
