I got me the Marshall 2061CX cab and holy smokes what a combo!! Its just sounds like HEAVEN!!!

Now, what Fuzz pedals interact well with the Pink Taco? I have a Crazy Tube Circuits Starlight Fuzz that was awesome with my Ceriatone King Kong and Marshall Vintage Modern and DSL 50 heads, but its not that great sounding with the PT :/

So I think I will sell it and get another fuzz that is more PT friendly. Any tips here?

Are you running the fuzz with gain from the amp, or a cleaner sort of sound? What don't you like about the Crazy Tube with your Pink Taco? I'm not familiar with that particular fuzz box.

Is there any particular fuzz tone you're looking for? A player/record in mind, perhaps?

I'm partial to the 70s era Big Muff sound. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can build replica for a lot cheaper than buying a vintage one. BYOC has a nice kit that has everything you need to build a classic style Big Muff, along with some small modifications. I really like the mid boost mod. It helps cut through the mix in a live situation quite a bit. Fuzz is known for making a guitar basically disappear with a band, especially the old Big Muffs (but they sound so good!). The mid boost will really help with that, and it opens up some new sounds when you experiment with your volume control on your guitar.

I find the Big Muff to be pretty versatile as well, while still being easy to use. There's a lot of useable sounds in that little box, and it's only got 3 knobs.

Here's the link to the BYOC build I was talking about.

thanks for posting. I am a total noob with soldering and its nothing I want to do myself.
I set the gain on around noon when using the PT. Im after that thick creamy sound of Growing on me by The Darkness.

The starlight sounds too muddy and bassy/dark with the TB.

Fair enough. If you're still interested in the BYOC, someone could make one for you and ship it your way. I could even do it maybe.

The Starlight is too muddy, you say? Interesting. I don't know anything about that pedal. Give me a bit, I'll read up on it and get back to you.

The muddy-ness of the pedal might come from it's smoothness in the mids. I'm listening to a demo of the pedal done by Pete Thorn, and it sounds like it's more of a classic fuzz sound, ala a Tone Bender or a Fuzz Face. Perhaps you need something more in line with the Big Muff, which isn't as smooth sounding. The main difference between fuzz circuits, as I understand it, is in the mids.

Are their any other sound clips you can share that would help, besides that tune by The Darkness? The more references, the better.

Are you changing the EQ on your amp to suit the fuzz? Sounds like a dumb question, but I totally understand if you don't want to compromise your main sound to fit the fuzz pedal. Perhaps an EQ pedal after the fuzz would help. You could use the EQ to shape the fuzz sound, and leave it off when you're not running the fuzz.

Edit - You just posted the same video I was watching   Pete is the best.

In general, that Darkness tone is what Im after:) Thin Lizzy and the Darkness are my fav bands.
I was thinking to buy a Boss GE7 for this, might help. The settings on the amp I like to set as they is.
Bass: 3
Mid: 6-7
Treble: 6
Gain: 6-7
Master: 5

Are you getting a mid boost when you engage the pedal vs having it off? Or is it cutting the mids?

The sound becomes less trebly for sure and more bassy/muddy`ish sounding.

Sounds like some changes to the EQ on your amp will help with the sound. That's a pretty standard complaint for fuzz pedals, they can get mushy real quick. That's why I like the classic designs with modern modifications. The changes can help deal with that.

For now, I would play around with your amp's EQ a bit when you feel like using the fuzz.

Don't know if this will help with your taco but here is they're live rigs.

I know, I have seen it thousand times:) I will try with a treble booster and see if it helps. Really love the Starlight so hope to keep it:)

Thanks for advises.

Roger Mayer Axis fuzz is what he's using live in that video. http://www.roger-mayer.co.uk/guitar_effects.htm

It's a typical early silicon fuzz unit, which means you're looking for a "fuzz face" style pedal. The Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz Face would get you in the right area.

I think the starlight can pull it off fairly well, you just need to do some tweaking.
